TUESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT [Previous report was for 5/12/97] LOTS to report on tonight guys! First of all, today will LONG be remembered in the hearts of all XWP fan fiction addicts as the day which marked the return to the Web of Rebekah, bard extraordinaire and author of the classic ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT. Rebekah's fiction has been unavailable through traditional means for several months now but at last - she's baaaaaaaack and for those of you who've never read Rebekah's works - boy do you have a treat in store for you! It all started back in 1996 when a new story quietly made its way to Tom's Fan Fiction page. Shortly after its appearance, news of it hit the NetForum in a post by Steelmagnolia - a friend and voracious fellow FF addict. That very night and for weeks to come readers followed Steel's post with several of their own, heaping lots of well-deserved praise on Rebeka - the bard responsible for the story. The reason for our exitement and gratitude was, of course, her first- ever attempt at XWP fan fic - ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT. The genre has never been the same since. To this day and even throughout those months in which the story was not available on the Web, ATTN has remained possibly the most popular and most requested Xena story ever. I don't think I've seen a list of favorite XWP fan fiction that does not include it. In honor then of Rebekah's return to the Web, below you'll find my review of ATTN along with reviews of the two other stories she has posted at her new Web site - REBEKAH'S CAVE OF CHOIRS. ATTN is also now available at Barbara Pfieffer's XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS site. Both URLs are listed under the review. Now, for other news tonight, thanks to the generosity of my friend Mary Draganis, known to many of you as MaryD - fearless editor of Tom's FF Web page, my fan fiction reports are now being archived on her own Web site - the XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS INFORMATION PAGE located at: https://ausxip.com/index.html The direct URL for MaryD's fan fiction page is: https://ausxip.com/fanfic.html My Fan Fiction Reports can be reached thru a link there or directly by going to https://lunacyreviews.ausxip.com/index.html Note that the Fan Fiction Reports page currently consists of two parts - you'll find the individual reviews in alphabetical order first. Two files are available - one for GENERAL FICTION one for ALTERNATIVE FICTION. In these files you'll find ALL the reviews I have ever included in any of my reports plus a few that have never been included. I'm currently working on adding to these files reviews of stories that were released prior to when I first started doing the reports. In the second part of the Web page you'll find listed the actual reports I release here on the NetForum and at XMC so those of you who want to look at older reports now will be able to. Once again, many thanks to MaryD for making this available. Following are the stories for tonight. ALL tales are GENERAL FICTION: ALL THRU THE NIGHT (by Rebekah) One of my all-time favorite stories. Incredibly emotional hurt/comfort tale that explores the dynamics of Xena and Gabby's friendship. This is the TV episode that we would all love to see. Already a classic of Xena fiction, ATTN was originally intended as the first entry in a larger epic. Exceedingly well-written and edited, this is a must for anyone who enjoys reading. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! http://www.bejay.com/rebekah/ http://www.bejay.com/xena.htm AFTERWORDS (by Rebekah) Nicely-written epilogue to the episode THE QUEST which has Xena helping a very emotional Gabrielle come to terms with her death and resurrection. http://www.bejay.com/rebekah/ WHATEVER IT TAKES (by Rebekah) An epilogue to the episode A NECESSARY EVIL which offers an intriguing depiction of the Warrior Princess. Rebekah's Xena in this story is very much on the money I think - as true to the character as anything we've seen in either fan fiction or the TV series. The story has Gabrielle trying to understand her friend's sudden ruthlessness and Xena being painfully honest about who she is, what drives her, and what she is capable of when cornered. http://www.bejay.com/rebekah/ TIMES (by Brant Forseng) Chapters 4-5 of this wild Callisto XWP/X-Files crossover tale are now avialbe. In present day Savannah, Georgia gang members break into the Covington Institute for the Preservation and Study of the Xena Scrolls. Their intent - to steal some of the artifacts and sell them to the fanatical fans of a new TV series based on the ancient warrior mentioned in the Xena Scrolls. The gang members never suspect that they will soon meet another warrior from that ancient time - a blonde warlord with a bloodlust greater than their own who will make them feel VERY sorry they ever decided to visit the Covington Institute. The next day, agents Mulder and Scully travel to the South to investigate the bloody murders in Savannah and try to find out exactly what is a "Callisto"...In these latest chapters the threat Scully and Mulder face becomes clearer as another player enters the game - an ancient one who can be as evil and calculating as Callisto. http://www.mnsi.net/~tower/callistopage.htm ENJOY!
