SUNDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 5/18/97

Hey guys,

Tonight we have a new entry in the feature at Tom's Web site 
called FROM THE BARD'S QUILL.  For those of you who are not 
familiar with FTBQ - this is a place where Xenite bards have been 
invited to share their thoughts with all of us who enjoy their 
fiction.  MaryD (Tom's editor) will be adding contributions
from different bards on a regular basis.  The latest one is
by a favorite of many a FF addict out there - Bat Morda, 
author of such jewels as BROKEN ARROW and IS THERE A DOCTOR

A note about the Fan Fiction Reports - stories are often released 
on the Net in parts.  I may review the first couple of chapters 
of a new tale, then weeks later when more chapters become available
I will include the story once again in my report.  From now on 
when I mention updates to existing stories I will also include
the date of the original review (if one is available) which usually 
tends to be more comprehensive.  The reports and individual reviews 
are now all being archived at MaryD's site so readers who wish to

GENERAL FICTION:

CHILDHOOD'S END (by Anon) - Pts. 4-5 are now available.  This 
masterpiece by Anon is the cutest of the cutest!  Xena as a five
year old - need I say more?  It is a beautiful tale of friendship,
sacrifice, innocence lost and innocence regained.  Anon has been 
re-editing the story and is not completely finished yet.  Ori-
ginally reviewed 4/19/97.

GUARDIAN OF THE PEOPLE (by Whattawoman) Part 10 is now available.
This tale has Xena coming to the painful decision that she must push
Gabrielle away for the bard's own good.  In so doing, however, she 
suddenly discovers she may have left the bard right in the middle 
of a deadly danger.

THE BETROTHAL (by P.L. Nunn) Promising new story featuring the 
God of War which has Ares leaving his usual responsibilities to
Strife's care while he pursues more urgent business - to try to
find a stolen Argo so he can return the mare to Xena.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

THE INCIDENT (by Joanna) I really would LOVE for Lucy Lawless 
to read this piece of fan fiction.  In light of the recent 
tribulations she's had in her life, I think this wonderful 
little skit would bring a smile to those baby blues.  Joanna
has our two fearless heroines, Xena and the Gabster of course,
paying a visit to a certain actress named Lucy Lawless who 
is feeling a little down over a recent, embarassing incident
involving the American anthem.  Although somewhat distracted by 
the wonder of infomercials, the warrior and her bard bring
the entire incident into perspective for Lucy - and hopefully
for ALL of us too.  THIS IS A MUST READ!!

BELOVED ENEMY (by L. Fox) L. Fox continues the story begun in 
CAGE OF ELYSIS and A BARD'S FAITH with this new effort which
begins with a very happy Xena and Gabrielle making plans for 
the bard to visit her family.  That happiness will soon be 
destroyed, however, when Xena suddenly finds herself without her
bard and without hope - determined only to bring her pain to an
end, even if in so doing she has to destroy friend and foe.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with 
the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add 
a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, 
depiciting them as more than just friends.
