GENERAL FICTION:

A GIFT OF THE HEART by Hobbes
Sweet little vignette set immediately after the events in the 
episode A DAY IN THE LIFE which has Gabrielle surprising the 
Warrior Princess and Xena responding with a surprise of her own.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

HEART OF A WARLORD by Patricia Ennis
Chapter 10 of this VERY passionate first-time tale by a fantastic 
bard is now available!  The story has Xena and Gabrielle struggling 
to understand the feelings between them just as an Amazon warlord 
comes into the picture to threaten everything.  In this latest
chapter Xena searches for the warlord Zo while Gabrielle finds
herself facing the wrath of the King of the gods himself. Previously
reviewed 4/12/97.

A short vignette that looks at what Gabrielle's life may have
been like had Perdicus not been killed.  Thoughtful, well-written

THE WARRIOR'S TALE by Gilliland
This story by a new bard is one of the most beautiful merging of
prose and poetry I have ever read.  Shifting point-of-views and 
startling imagery, make the style unique and richly emotional. 
Set soon after the events in the much-loved episode IS THERE A 
DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE, the tale has a still-recuperating Gabrielle
getting ready to take part in a bard competition in Athens, while
Xena, unable to forget how close she came to loosing her companion, 
is gathering the courage she will need to leave her.  The warrior 
is certain Gabrielle will forever be in danger by her side, but
to push her away she will need to overcome both the bard's steely 
determination to stay and her own desperate need for the gentle
heart she has grown to love so much.  Riveting and powerful.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with
the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add
a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby,
depicting them as more than just friends.
