**AS LONG AS THE EARTH ENDURES by Bracer -- [Alt]
Only this bard's second story after the very moving TWO SOULS, this new one is a monster of a story - a long, OUTSTANDING, splendidly written, wonderfully romantic, and solidly crafted novel that will keep you hooked for hours so make sure to reserve some free time before tackling it because this is one you're not going to want to let go. The story begins with the warrior and bard running into their old friend Meleager who desperately needs some help guarding a group of priestesses trying to make their way to a new land they want to call home. One slight little problem though - seems the priestesses celebrate their devotion to the goddess Inanna by offering some VERY popular services and are therefore incredibly in demand - so much so that a number of slavers have banned together determined to enslave the women and all who travel with them. With Amazons along to help guard the caravan, Xena and Gabrielle then join Meleager and the priestesses - only to soon find themselves intrigued by the mysterious high priestess - a woman named Lilith whose origins stem back to the beginning of time itself and who has a strange ability to see into the hearts of others...and to help them recognize what's there. Amidst the adventure of this quest for an earthly paradise, Bracer spins a beautiful tale of romance - taking the Xena/Gab relationship from the uncertainty of feelings yet unspoken, to the giddiness of that first admission of love, to the exhilaration of raw passion and the gentle wonder of two soulmates united at last. Bracer does a terrific job here not only with the characterizations of our two heroines but all of the supporting players as well. Along with some exiting action and some great humor, the story features some of the most...er...interesting battle tactics I've ever read about ;-) - Gives new meaning to a phrase I wont mention here but which I guarantee will come to mind when you're reading this. Set just after season two, Bracer's latest thankfully ignores the inconsistencies and weaknesses of the rift and post-rift episodes, presenting us instead with a story that recalls much of what long-time fans first loved about this show. This is a joy to read. It gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! - 168 pgs., 11/16/98

**ONE NATION by Bracer - [Alt]
Acting as a follow-up to 1998's fanfic gem AS LONG AS THE EARTH ENDURES, this new contribution from Bracer picks up Xena and Gabrielle's story roughly after the episode SUCCESSION, thankfully ignoring the rest of season five as Bracer takes the characters in an entirely different direction. The story opens on a quiet moment as Gabrielle thinks about her partner and the welcomed changes their relationship has undergone. Too soon the moment of peace is gone as a messenger brings ill tidings from the warrior's home and miles away the Amazon Nation sends scouts in search of their wandering queen. In the weeks to come warrior and bard will look to one another for strength in dealing with the difficult challenges ahead, knowing at least one of those will bring a heartache they're powerless to stop. Bracer's treatment of the Xena/Gab relationship is incredibly endearing painting them not only as equal partners but also as partners who desperately need one another and are comfortable in that need. There's an emotional vulnerability to Xena here that stands in sharp contrast to her warrior persona and that makes her very human. Bracer is spinning an engrossing, well-paced, solidly written tale that should keep us nicely hooked in the weeks ahead. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] - 38 pgs., 8/6/00

**STRAIGHT THROUGH THE HEART by Bracer - [Alt]
This talented author's first uber opens in Boston in 1889 where fearless journalist Jackie Revere is in the process of learning that a very dangerous criminal she helped put behind bars is out and will likely be gunning for her. Intent on getting her out of the city, Jackie's editor assigns her a new story - to investigate what has happened to the mysterious Pinkerton detective known as Farrell Parker - daughter of a Texas Ranger reputed to have been one herself - a woman with an arrest record second to none who has not been seen in over a year. Some weeks later, in the Dakota territories, a tall, dark-haired loner is thinking about her self-imposed exile and getting ready for the Winter ahead - never suspecting just how much a spunky little blonde reporter is about to make this Winter a WHOLE lot more exiting! Bracer establishes early on here a compelling premise with two very interesting characters we immediately want to know more about. Incorporating into the story legends of the Old West like the Pinkertons, the Texas Rangers and Sitting Bull gives the tale an air of authenticity drawing us in even further. Already working well as an uber, this is one that should keep us clamoring for more! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] - 20 pgs., 8/6/00

**TWO SOULS by Bracer
A deeply emotional, moving story set immediately after the events in SACRIFICE II which follows a destitute Xena as she tries to come to terms with the loss of her bard and also lays to rest an old enemy. All the while, Gabrielle finds herself in a very different existence, learning about how gods and destiny have mingled her life and that of the warrior's in a conflict as old as time. Bracer does an outstanding job of exploring many of the issues touched upon in season three. In having the characters face these issues head on, the tale feels real and very satisfying. Featuring THE most moving and most poignant farewell to Callisto I have yet to see in either fanfic or the TV series, this is also a startingly poignant tale guaranteed to pull on those heart strings. A great read! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 23 pgs., 7/27/98
