**AFTER AMPHIPOLIS by Charmer - [Alt]
I love this story. It singlehandedly addresses some of the most CRITICAL issues I and other viewers have had with the TV show, questioning both the perfection of the "hero" and of this "better" world the Twilight of the Gods will supposedly give way to. Set after the events in the episode SIEGE OF AMPHIPOLIS, the story has Xena unable to shake some distressing nightmares about Eve - nightmares in which her baby is in mortal danger from an enemy that looks all-too familiar - an enemy with the face of her beloved partner. The memory of Hope troubles her deeply - distancing her from the one person who's been there for her for so long, even as it gives rise to some terrifying new doubts. In the forests of Bacchus those doubts and Xena's growing worry will finally bring the warrior into a fateful confrontation with her greatest fear, forcing her to reevaluate those choices from the past and experience the very anguish she once visited on another. Charmer delivers here an INCREDIBLY thought-provoking story which very effectively stays away from depictions of villains and heroes as either perfection personified or evil incarnate. The premise set forth here is a very valid one with a cautionary note important for us all to keep in mind. Excellent work. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 16 pgs., 4/3/00

**COMPARING NOTES by Charmer -- [Alt]
A drunk Gabby discusses Xena with a couple of the warrior's former bed partners. Very, VERY cute! One of my favorites by this gifted bard. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See the sequel TURNING TABLES] - 7 pgs., 2/97

**LILLA'S LITTLE ADVENTURE by Charmer -- [Alt]
With this little tale Charmer has created an instant *CLASSIC* of XWP fan fiction that readers will NEVER, ever forget! In her three previous stories, COMPARING NOTES, TURNING TABLES and WINNING SMILES, Charmer firmly established a reputation for quality fiction, demonstrating a unique talent for combining romance, passion and humor into some of the most clever plots I've ever seen in fiction. It didn't seem possible but with this new story Charmer has outdone herself yet again. LILLA'S LITTLE ADVENTURE is possibly the most *serious* threat your funny bone will have ever faced. In fact, I have to give a warning NOT to read this story at work - not for the usual reasons I give that particular warning but because your co-workers are going to look at you very strangely when you're turning red, holding your aching sides and howling over this story. Told from Lilla's perspective, it starts off innocently enough with Gabrielle's little sister getting ready for a visit from the bard and the Warrior Princess. It is a visit that none of them will ever forget and that will ultimately have Lilla seeing her sister in a very different light. THE MUST READ OF THE YEAR!! DO NOT MISS!! It receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!! - 8 pgs., 5/30/97

**TURNING TABLES by Charmer -- [Alt]
The mischievous Gabrielle from COMPARING NOTES is back in this "charming" tale that has the bard determined to give Xena a "new" experience and getting some unlikely help in the process. See also the sequel WINNING SMILES. - 26 pgs., 4/5/97

**WINNING SMILES by Charmer -- [Alt]
Charmer's writing is SO extraordinarily enjoyable I just can't heap enough praise on it. The humor this bard includes in her stories takes the best of the series, blending this into a depiction of the characters and the interaction among them that is very much her own and absolutely delightful. Despite the apparent "taming of the warlord" theme that her stories tend to give the Xena/Gabby relationship, there is a quality in the romance that makes it very funny and very sweet. This latest effort is a sequel to TURNING TABLES which in turn is a sequel of sorts to COMPARING NOTES so ideally you should read both of those EXCELLENT stories before tackling this one. As WINNING SMILES opens, the warrior is extracting sweet revenge on her bard for a recent humiliation. They are on their way to a festival Hercules and Salmoneous have organized to help for charity. It is an event ripe with possibilities where Gabby will find her hands full keeping the Warrior Princess from murdering pigs and kids even as she convinces her to "participate" in the fun. This is a MUST READ that will put a winning smile on your face! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 38 pgs., 5/12/97
