WARRIOR'S TALE (THE) by Gilliland -- [Alt]
This story by a new bard is one of the most beautiful merging of prose and poetry I have ever read. Shifting point-of-views and startling imagery, make the style unique and richly emotional. Set soon after the events in the much-loved episode IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE, the tale has a still-recuperating Gabrielle getting ready to take part in a bard competition in Athens, while Xena, unable to forget how close she came to loosing her companion, is gathering the courage she will need to leave her. The warrior is certain Gabrielle will forever be in danger by her side, but to push her away she will need to overcome both the bard's steely determination to stay and her own desperate need for the gentle heart she has grown to love so much. Riveting and powerful. - 19 pgs., 6/97
