GOING HOME by LZClotho - [Alt]
Set shortly after the events in the episode THE XENA SCROLLS, LZClotho's first Mel/Janice story finds the new friends collaborating in an effort to get the scrolls, Xena's chakram and themselves out of Greece. With few options available, the two embark on a journey that will take them into a world filled with danger, betrayal, and espionage, strengthening a friendship that began long before either was born and reawakening the courage of an ancient warrior and bard. This veteran author once again delivers a well-written tale with solid characterizations and a rather original depiction of Mel in particular. DO NOT MISS! [See the sequel HOME FRONT] - 182 pgs., 7/18/99

HEART'S COURAGE by LZClotho -- [Alt]
Riveting new story that finds Gabrielle in dire straits on her way to the Roman slave markets praying the Warrior Princess will reach her soon, only the warrior Gabrielle knows is no more, replaced by a stranger living ten years in the past and aided now once again by the same mysterious figure that was her right hand back then. Clotho does a nice job with the pacing here creating a great sense of suspense and impending danger in a story that explores the allure of power and that every-present darker side. DO NOT MISS! - 248 pgs., 1/18/99

HOME FIRES by LZClotho - [Alt]
In this sequel to HOME FRONT things have settled down a bit for Mel and Janice as the Southerner deals with social responsibilities and Janice establishes herself at the university but the road they've chosen in order to be together will not mean for an easy life in a town known for its old traditions. With hostile relatives to think about, appearances to maintain, and old demons to struggle with, the two will be tested as their relationship continues to grow and deepen. LZClotho continues to do a nice job in this series of integrating the uber-archetypes into the world that was the American South in the 1940s. Her Mel and Janice are both strong, passionate, compelling women - well-matched despite their surface differences. A good continuation to a fine series. One to watch in the weeks ahead. [unfinished] - 14 pgs., 4/26/00

**HOME FRONT by LZClotho - [Alt]
This sequel to LZClotho's GOING HOME finds Mel and Janice stateside at last but faced with a rather tense situation as an unemployed Janice looks for a job and the two try to adjust to the presence of Mel's mother at the Pappas' North Carolina plantation. LZClotho continues to deliver in this sequel a very solid, appealing depiction of her heroines, revealing their vulnerabilities and insecurities without undermining the strength of the characters. The romance has a very tender, protective quality that recalls that of Mel and Janice's ancient ancestors. DO NOT MISS! [See the sequel HOME FIRES] - 111 pgs., 11/18/99

**JUST AN INTERLUDE by LZClotho -- [Alt]
A very nice new offering from this gifted bard that has the Warrior Princess dealing with some very young thieves and a familiar older one as well before heading for a much anticipated rendezvous with the bard whose stolen her heart. Tenderly passionate, this one will leave you with one of those big old grins :) A MUST READ! DO NOT MISS!! - 6 pgs., 6/10/98, re-released 1/5/98

MAGICIAN (THE) by LZClotho
An unsuspecting magician touches a wistful chord within the Warrior Princess, bringing back memories of a more innocent time still full of wonder and hope. Compelling look at the ex-warlord in one of her unguarded moments. - 3 pgs., 2/4/99

MANTLES ARE HEAVY by LZClotho -- [Alt]
Clotho's latest takes Xena and the bard back to Amazonia where Gabrielle finds herself under pressure to choose between the royal mask and the warrior who owns her heart. All the while enemies, both new and old, are closing in. Nicely written with strong, believable characterizations and a well-crafted plot, this is another MUST READ from this talented bard. DO NOT MISS!! - 76 pgs., 9/7/98, re-released 1/5/99

NEW TERRITORY by LZClotho -- [Alt]
A HIGHLY original new first time story that sets out to avoid common cliches in alt. fiction and succeeds quite well. The story has Xena and Gabrielle trying to deal with feelings for one another they can no longer ignore. Sensing the warrior's fears, Gabrielle realizes that it is up to her to take the initiative but those fears and the constant misunderstandings will make any progress for the young bard a SLOW process. This story is nicely written and very sweet. The characterizations of Xena and Gabrielle are different but well-drawn and believable. TO SLEEP PERCHANCE by LZClotho -- [Alt]
Adorable little story about some slight sleeping incompatibilities that have one very tired bard grabbing that shut-eye in unlikely places, and a very worried Warrior Princess never suspecting herself as the reason for her partner's exhaustion. Nice slice-of-life piece about the everyday little challenges partners sometimes have to deal with. - 7 pgs., 2/4/99

WELLSPRING OF WISHES by LZClotho -- [Alt]
Well written new offering that has Xena and the bard coming upon a band of Amazons previously unknown to them. Soon enough the two are helping the women warriors against some mutual enemies while Xena watches her partner, wondering whether Gabrielle would indeed be better off with the stability her own Amazons can offer. Nice depiction of the relationship with a strong supporting cast. - 42 pgs., 9/28/98, re-released 1/5/99

WHEN WE DANCE, WHO LEADS? by LZClotho -- [Alt]
Set just after the event's in Clotho's earlier story NEW TERRITORY, this is a very different alt. story that has Xena and the bard a bit at odds as they work on the dynamics of their new physical relationship. Aside from trying to deal with Xena's constant need for control, the two soon realize they may sometimes not be quite...in synch ;-) This is an original, realistic tale, sensitively told and well-presented. - 20 pgs., 1/5/98, re-released 1/5/99

STAR TREK VOYAGER FANFIC

**ALL I NEED by LZClotho - [Alt]
A talented Xena fanfic veteran, LZClotho expands her horizons into Voyager fanfic with a very nicely written, sensitive tale set immediately after the episode VOYAGER CONSPIRACY. Still reeling from the recent confusion caused by her efforts at trying to absorb all of Voyager's logs, Seven is feeling ashamed and vulnerable, dismayed more than anything by the disappointment she's certain Captain Janeway now feels toward her. Sensing the young woman's inner conflict, Janeway sets out to help, discovering just how alone Seven of Nine is and in the process discovering also how very much she wants to ease that loneliness. LZClotho develops the Janeway/Seven relationship with a subtlety that works very well for the characters. When they finally acknowledge their feelings, it is done with a poignant desperation that is touching and sweet and passionate. A great new addition to Voyager fanfic - DO NOT MISS! [See the sequel COLLECTIVE THOUGHTS] - 21 pgs., 2/9/00

Determined to involve the reluctant ex-drone with the holiday festivities, Janeway sets out to show Seven the meaning of the season and to share with her some special memories from her own past. This is nicely written with a very definite holiday feel. - 11 pgs., 4/8/00
