**HEART'S PROMISE by Maggie
Set immediately after the end of season three, this story is riveting, gut-wrenching, and reaffirming all at once. Featuring appearances from some of Maggie's own original characters from past stories, the tale follows Xena as she tries to deal with the agony of losing her soulmate, all the while struggling also against the God of War's renewed efforts at forcing her back into his fold. Meanwhile, trapped between the world of the living and the dead, Gabrielle looks on, desperate to help her beloved warrior but unable to do so - knowing that upon Xena's shoulders rests the only hope she has of ever resuming the life she left behind. Keep that kleenex box handy because parts of this story deliver quite an emotional wallop. Maggie depicts a Xena that is at the end of her rope, lost without her source, but determined to live up to her lost partner's ideals - never suspecting that in so doing she could very well prove herself worthy of the most beautiful of rewards. This is a story firmly grounded in the magic of the Xena/Gab friendship. Entertaining and wonderfully gratifying. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 47 pgs., 7/30/98

**MOUTH OF BABES (THE) by Maggie
A BEAUTIFUL Solstice story that acts as a sequel to Maggie's previous tale THE SILVER FOX. Having recovered somewhat from the recent ordeal in the land of Chin, the Xena and Gabrielle nevertheless find their friendship still deeply affected. There's a distance between them that frustrates both making them short-tempered and unsure. It is a problem that becomes of secondary importance when a little orphan girl comes into their lives. Unbeknownst to the warrior and bard, however, the waif's presence will have a pronounce effect on them both reminding them of the very special love and friendship they share and prompting them at last to face the fears that have been keeping them apart. This is a very touching and timely story which ties in well with the current challenges the two friends are facing in the TV series. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 40 pgs., 12/25/97

**SHE AINT HEAVY... by Maggie
In the best tradition of all those great hurt/comfort stories, Maggie brings us a tale that will grab those heart-strings early on and just pull at them 'til the very end. Set after the events in BITTER SUITE, this story begins with Xena growing increasingly concerned when she first realizes that Gabrielle is sick. In the ensuing days the bard's condition continues to worsen but the real challenge will come when another deadly development threatens them both leaving them with only their love and determination to rely on. Featuring a very stirring depiction of the Xena/Gab friendship, this is an intense, emotional piece made more so by it's treatment of some of the events in BITTER SUITE. DO NOT MISS! - 55 pgs., 3/2/98

SILVER FOX (THE) by Maggie
Set after the events in the episode DEBT II - BETRAYAL, this long, gripping story follows the warrior and bard as they try to find their way back to one another from the desolation they have both been left in by recent events. Feeling lost and in need of healing they travel to Amazonia where they at last will have to face their feelings or risk loosing one another forever. This is a deeply emotional piece firmly rooted in the strength of the Xena/Gabrielle friendship. It offers an interesting perspective on the rift we are now seeing in the third season - exploring some of the feelings these two women are likely to experience. Well done. [See also the sequel THE MOUTH OF BABES] - 49 pgs., 12/4/97

SOUL'S PLEDGE by Maggie
Emotional story set in the fourth season which finds Xena and Gabrielle returning to Amphipolis after another trying ordeal to recuperate and spend time with their old friend Lanessa. It is a difficult time for them both as the warrior agonizes over how her past continues to affect Gabrielle's life and the young bard worries that Xena might once again be thinking of leaving her behind. Maggie paints a wonderfully compelling picture of the Xena/Gab friendship here, establishing it as paramount in both their lives. Including a number of nicely dramatic scenes, this is a very satisfying read. DO NOT MISS!! - 59 pgs., 2/23/99

TRUST FUND by Maggie
Maggie's latest has Xena and the Gabster traveling to meet a friend of the bard's who needs Gabrielle's help in translating some newly discovered scrolls. Excited about the project, Gabrielle nevertheless remains nervous about her companion's over-protective nature prompting Xena to try to keep under control the warning bells going off in her head over the entire situation. This is a story about trust which like all of Maggie's works to date is also deeply rooted in the friendship between warrior and bard. Long and very nice. - 138 pgs.,10/18/97

**WEEK IN THE LIVES OR THE WEEK THAT WAS by Maggie and Peribear
Xena fan fiction stands out for including some of the best bards writing today and some of the best stories being produced ANYWHERE - including the commercial arena. Even among such quality offerings, every once in a while a story comes out that is a touch above the rest - a story that leaves you certain upon finishing it that you've just read something very special. This new tale brought to us by the combined talents of Maggie and Peribear is such a story. Based in spirit on the episode A DAY IN THE LIFE which many, many Xenites consider their favorite and EVERY fan senses was a unique moment in the series, Maggie and Peribear's new story follows the warrior and bard through the course of a week - charting not only their adventures, but the interactions between these two - the moments of hilarity, the easiness born of an unquestionable trust, the familiar comfort in each others presence, and most of all, the expressions of deep love and friendship. The story is structured exactly like the episode from which it gains its inspiration - as a series of vignettes occurring this time over the span of a week - each separate little stories that could stand on their own. In the first one, the theme of family is established as Xena and Gabrielle happen across an old man who mistakes the warrior for the granddaughter he once adored. It is a theme that will be carried throughout the rest of the vignettes as the two friends deal with a painful memory from Gabrielle's past, spend time with Xena's mother, survive a difficult ordeal on the road, constantly tease and prod one another - each seeking revenge for being the others source of amusement, and ultimately reaffirm the very special bond that makes them both each others family. This is one of the BEST stories I suspect we will ever see in XWP fan fiction. It could EASILY be the next episode done in the fashion that ADITL was done and I have NO doubts it would become as big of a favorite with the fans. This tale simply put is a gift from Maggie and Peribear we all need to be very grateful for. A definite MUST READ which carries my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! - 74 pgs., 7/21/97
