Chapter one of Silk's first ever uber-Xena story, set in 5th century Ireland, has a bittersweet, poignant flavor to it as it chronicles the haunted memories of Kerry inion Fionnbharr, a beautiful chieftain with flowing dark hair and crisp blue eyes whose thoughts will forever return to the tragic day in her youth when her life was forever changed. Silk does a wonderful job using description and dialogue to give her story a true Celtic atmosphere. This is one with great potential folks. DO NOT MISS! [unfinished] - 4/8/98

**ARES' CHOSEN by Silk
An exceptional sequel to ARES' CURSE which basically tells the same story but this time from Xena's perspective. The premise has Gabrielle asking her companion to tell her about that first meeting with Ares. The story that emerges is of a courageous, brash, self-assured young woman who together with her younger brother was committed to be the hero that would change the world - only a cloud of darkness would engulf her long before that hero could ever be born. Silk's decision to present the story told in her earlier tale through Xena's eyes this time proves a very effective creative choice, resulting in a poignant treatise on the darkening of a human soul. ARES' CURSE by Silk
Based on an actual Greek poem, which is included at the end of the story, this is a wonderful little tale that features one of the most interesting and well-rounded characterizations of the God of War I've seen in XWP fan fiction. The story has Ares reminiscing about the fateful day when he once visited Hephestaus' forge and the repercusions that visit would have on him for eternity and on a certain Warrior Princess for the rest of her life. This should particularly delight fans of the God of War. Very nice. [See the sequel ARES' CHOSEN] - 8 pgs., 1/8/98

BROKEN IN TWO by Silk -- [Alt]
An interesting interpretation of the battle that must have led to the events revealed in the episode XENA SCROLLS, this story has a self- assured God of War fighting against an enemy determined to make him pay for his cruelty and determined to avenge a brave heart which fell victim to that cruelty. **CROWN OF LAUREL (A) by Silk
This is a wonderfully written, action-packed story which has Callisto orchestrating a devious trap for the Warrior Princess and bard - a trap which will lead them right into the hands of one of Xena's deadliest and oldest enemies and into the heart of an empire. This story is the first piece of fan fiction set after the events in the episode GABRIELLE'S HOPE and the first entry in Silk's SWORD OF WAR TRILOGY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!- 101 pgs., 11/1/97

EVENING'S TALE (THE) by Silk
This little vingette has Gabrielle telling the Warrior Princess a tale of heroism! - of a brave warrior facing a deadly winged creature and of the horrible fight which ensues! It is a tale from Xena's own life...although the bard DOES tend to exaggerate juuuuuuust a tad... ;-) This is VERY, very cute. A fun read! - 3 pgs., 11/23/97

**FATE'S CHOICE by Silk -- [Alt]
This third installment in Silk's TAPESTRY OF LIFE SERIES very nicely incorporates elements from the recent rift episodes into a story which effectively explains some of the unanswered questions from those episodes. Having tried unsuccessfully to change the bleak future they foresee but recognizing that Xena and Gabrielle are the key, the Fates accept the help of the Goddess of Love in one final attempt to fight Dahak's evil. It is a desperate plan Aphrodite will put into play with the help of another and which can only succeed through the power of love. A riveting story which ties in well with the others in the series. Minutes after arriving, Xena is besieged by her former fellow conspirators from some weeks back who are still harboring the escapees from the Harvest festival and badly in need of help in order to assure the safety of these. To the rescue comes the Great Turkey Liberator ready to unleash more mischief on the unsuspecting adults of Amphipolis in a Solstice none of them will soon forget! One of the funniest series in Xena fanfic keeps getting...FUNNIER! The Great Turkey Liberator and her bard return to Amphipolis in this third story were they discover that their heroic efforts on behalf of a few feathered friends have led to some...unforeseen developments ;-) Adding to Xena's "fierce" reputation, this entire series is a MUST READ folks! Silk masterfully taps into that side of the Warrior Princess that perhaps more than any other makes her a true hero. Set during the Harvest festival in Amphipolis, the story has the residents of the town getting ready for the festivities when to their horror they discover that the main ingredients for their feast are missing! - THE TURKEYS!! This new offering could have gone in the general fiction section. There really is NO reason why this couldn't have gone in the general fiction area. It's just an innocent little uber story about a master plumber and a client in need of her services. Still, knowing "Nit and Wit" all too well, there's just SOMETHING about this tale that got me suspicious so I thought I'd play it safe and include it under my alt. section. One cautionary note - for some reason that plumbing section of the hardware store is gonna seem much more...interesting after...er...plunging into this story A MUST READ likely to wet your appetite for some plumbing advice ;-) DO NOT MISS! - 9 pgs., 2/24/99

Wonderful new story by this prolific talent which tells of a time in Xena's life not often explored in fan fiction - the transitionary period just after her fateful encounter with Hercules, when she first decided to abandon her life as a warlord. Silk has her meeting a very important friend during this time - a friend that in years to come will prove among the most loyal and trusted Xena has ever had. The characterization of the warrior is particularly astute, depicting a Xena that still instinctively reacts like a warlord while consciously trying to do good.
