I "grew up" with computers. I started working in the computer field in 1974 so I have extensive "history" on early computers and early language, having worked as a Digital Equipment Technician for many of those years. I can still convert Octal to Binary in my head and used to toggle addresses in by hand! I mostly worked with DEC architecture, but also have a passing knowledge of early Unix. Familiar with farm life. I've been an out dyke for 35 years,pre-gay rights,and was very active in the gay rights movement, so I'm very familiar with the lesbian culture of then and now. I lived in Israel from the age of 12 through 24, so I speak, read, and write Hebrew (not Yiddish, which developed from Middle German and is spoken typically by the older folks who were born in Eastern Europe - "shmuck" "chutzpah" "shlmiel" "shlemazel" etc. are Yiddish. Hebrew is the language that is spoken in Israel, and developed from Aramaic, which I can read, but no one really "speaks" - one uses it to study older biblical texts (Talmud mostly). So.. Hebrew, Aramaic, the culture of the Middle East, past and present. I am truly "bi-cultural" in that I grew up there, my knowledge isn't from a book or from several years of language study here in the USA.
