RAIDERS OF THE DANCING GABBYS by JayBird
Those three naked, dancing Gabrielles from THE QUILL IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD never quite disappeared when the bard's magical scroll did. In fact they're alive and well and happily employed...at Meg's tavern. Such is the premise of Jaybird's newest tale which reads EXACTLY like one of the ligther episodes in the TV series. Nicely written, it is a MUST READ for fans of the show's comedy. - 19 pgs., 7/27/98

RANDOM THOUGHTS SERIES by Claire Withercross - read in the order listed below:
RANK STRANGERS TO ME by Virginia Carper
Set during the events in the episode THE DELIVERER, this story proposes a scenario of what could have been happening during Xena and Gabrielle's time with Boudiccea and the Iceni people. Virginia's tale presents a savage depiction of the Iceni that is probably more historically accurate than what was suggested in the TV series. Her Gabrielle is a dreamer caught in a nightmare who cannot understand the violence going on around her - an innocent reaching out in desperation only to find a kindly foreign priest the only one willing to listen. Intense and thought-provoking, this story is a MUST READ. DO NOT MISS! - 11 pgs., 3/6/98

RATE THE HUNKS by Barron and His Femme Alter Ego Karen
A hilarious new offering that has this very creative bard and his alter ego Karen rating all the various hunks that have appeared on Xena: Warrior Princess. VERY cute and well-worth the read. - 9 pgs., 3/8/98

REDEMPTION by Dan A. Payne
This tale should particularly appeal to Callisto fans. It has Xena and Gabby trying to change the events which created the blonde warlord and coming face to face with the Warrior Princess of old in the process. - 23 pgs., 3/9/97

REFLECTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS by Cathbad
Famous for his parodies, Cathbad now brings us his first-ever story - reuniting Xena and Iolus in an action-packed adventure that has the two being summoned by an old teacher of Iolus to fight a deadly evil. Along the way the two deal with some unresolved issues between them and rediscover a very special friendship. Nicely written and sweet. - 21 pgs., 8/31/97

REFLECTIONS BY ARGO by Anita Louise
The mighty steed remembers her past with Xena and the days since a little irritating blonde joined them. - 10 pgs., 10/8/97

REFLECTIONS OF A WAR GOD by John Dorsey
A rather chilling treatise by the God of War on the Warrior Princess, Gabrielle, what they've gone through in the past three years and the truths he sees within them. An insightful look into the mind of this Olympian who despite being one of Xena's greatest enemies also remains an admirer who knows her all too well. - 11 pgs., 5/9/98

**REGRET by Extra22
A wonderful little story set about six months after Xena and Gabrielle's first meeting, this is told through the warrior's perspective as the two struggle through some very cold weather and the ex-warlord finds herself at odds about her companion's presence - convinced that going back home will be best for the girl...yet feeling strangely saddened by that likely possibility. Soon the two are joined by a fellow traveler, with a story to tell - and a lesson to teach. Extra22 does an excellent job here in capturing Xena's "voice" presenting us with a warrior who is amusingly blunt, ever cautious about strangers and about those walls around her heart, yet quietly vulnerable as well. A fine read with a nostalgic feel to it. DO NOT MISS! - 5 pgs., 9/19/00

RELUCTANT GODDESS by Titanium and Awatcher
Another great story from this successful writing team. Needing to strip Callisto and Velaska of their godhoods, the gods are faced with one little problem - although one of the godhoods can be dispersed into nature, another must be placed into a living vessel, in effect creating a new god. Soon the Olympians have made a decision as to who that living vessel will be. Suffice it to say - the life of a certain bard will never be the same again... This story is well-written with a very clever plot and some hilarious moments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 62 pgs., 9/12/97

REMEMBRANCE - THE RANDOM THOUGHTS OF A BARD by Ian Rentoul
This is a nice vignette which has Gabrielle reminiscing about the past few years as she and Xena pass near Poteidaia. The young bard remembers the innocent girl who once left her home village to travel with an ex-warlord and all the changes that have occurred in that girl's life since then. - 4 pgs., 10/2/97

RENDER UNTO CAESAR by Whattawoman
This talented bard brings us the first chapter of her new story - a mysterious tale which begins with a Roman soldier on watch at a Roman fortress in the land of the barbarians, thinking back on the number of soldiers killed recently - some right as they slept...[unfinished] - 8/18/97

REST OF OUR LIVES (THE) by Rebecca Weiner
This story is an epilogue to the episode THE EXECUTION offering a more satisfying conclusion to that ending. - 4 pgs., 4/97

RESURRECTIONS CATCH by Kevin Blanco
Well written Callisto story that has Hades returning the blonde warlord to the world of the living after Callisto agrees to fight for justice this time. Meanwhile, Xena and Gabrielle have been captured by a deadly warlord - a man who fought beside Xena at Cirrah and who played a part in what happened there much greater than anyone knows... - 8 pgs., 6/15/97

RETALIATION by Barry Marshall
Intriguing new story that has the Warrior Princess racing against time to try to save her loved ones from an old enemy. Suspenseful and promising, this story is not yet finished. - 40 pgs., 3/4/98
http://members.aol.com/xxlbadboy/retali8.htm
REUNION (THE) by Eimajj
This veteran bard returns with a riveting story set after the episode A GOOD DAY which finds Xena and Gabrielle on their way home to spend some time with their respectives family. With Alti's vision haunting her a worried Xena encourages the bard to think about her life and consider carefully whether she wants to continue following an ex-warlord toward an uncertain future. During the ensuing separation both family and gods will scheme to keep the two apart driving the warrior into a living hell as a desperate bard searches for her partner and two soulmates are tested like they've never been before. This is an intense story with a strong portrayal of the friendship and a rather vulnerable characterization of the Warrior Princess. DO NOT MISS!
- 40 pgs., 7/4/99

REUNITING HEART by Xandrina
A mysterious stranger from Xena's past joins the warrior and bard just as the two come across a couple with a sad story about vitality loss at the hilt of a sword. Xandrina uses a very unusual style here which even has the narrator speaking with the author. [unfinished] - 10/20/97
http://xenafan.com/fiction/content/reuniting.html
REWARD (THE) by Rebecca Weiner (Aceberry)
Nicely written and edited story set immediately after the events in the episode THE PRICE which has Xena and Gabrielle both suffering the psychological aftereffects of that terrible ordeal, struggling valiantly to keep their emotions from erupting and possibly damaging their friendship irrevocably. Note: the story does contain some subtext. - 31 pgs., 9/2/97

**RITE OF PASSAGE by Maureen McGowan
A wonderful tale featuring a challenge for the bard of Potidea turned Amazon Queen. During a visit with her sister Amazons, Gabrielle agrees to go through the Rite of Passage - an Amazon coming-of-age ceremony which Xena agrees to assist in. For most Amazons, it is a routine ceremony with little danger involved but then the Gabster is not like most Amazons and trouble DOES tend to follow her. This story is very much what we've come to expect from a McGowan offering - excellently written with moments that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!- 32 pgs., 5/21/97

RIVER (THE) by Aslan
A very nice sequel to Aslan's FORGIVENESS which has Xena and Gabrielle joining forces with the warrior's former enemy Arianna - this time to track down a mutual foe - the warlord Talinares. What they don't suspect is that Talinares has formed an alliance of his own with an evil determined to bring the Warrior Princess to her knees. - 84 pgs., 9/20/97

ROCK AND A HARD PLACE (A) by Quest
Thoughtful story that has Xena and Gabrielle coming upon the ruins of a small village amidst a valley full of dead bodies - casualites of a vicious battle between two armies. In the ensuing weeks, the warrior and the bard help the surviving villagers bury the dead, determined also to help them come to terms with the pain buried in their souls. - 8 pgs., 2/97
http://xenafan.com/fiction/content/rockandhardplace.html
ROPE TRICK by M. Parnell
Parnell's latest, like her previous XWP stories, is a marvelously entertaining and VERY well written tale - this one featuring a HIGHLY unlikely alliance. While Gabrielle goes to visit a friend, Xena heads off on her own planning to send Solan some items when she gets to a nearby town. Her plans are rudely interrupted, however, when she's waylaid by Callisto herself - mysteriously now no longer a god but still deadly dangerous and determined as ever to torture the Warrior Princess. Ironically for the blonde warlord, her plans don't exactly work out either and soon both adversaries find themselves badly injured with only each other to depend on for survival. Parnell is particularly adept at depicting the now infamous mind games that are Callisto's trademark. - 33 pgs., 3/97

RUNAWAY by Claire Withercross
When Xena and Gabrielle meet a very angry little boy who doesn't seem to be able to get along with anyone it makes the warrior suddenly wonder what part of us is predetermined and what part is what the world makes of us. Thoughtful with some humorous moments. [Part three in the RANDOM THOUGHTS SERIES] - 7 pgs., 5/8/00
