catch up with her later, Xena sends the bard on ahead never suspecting the

GABRIELLE OVERDOSE by Alan Plessinger
Cute story that has Xena receiving a very unique birthday gift from Aphrodite and then an even more special one from Gabrielle when the bard insists on using the gift to give Xena something the warrior hasn't had in her life for many, many years. Different and nicely written with some funny moments and some poignant ones. - 7 pgs., 7/29/98

GABRIELLE'S CHOICE by Lara Zielinsky
Poignant story set just after the events in DESTINY which chronicles Gabrielle's efforts following Xena's death to try to come to terms with the crushing loss and bring the warrior's body safely home. Lara combines nicely some scenes from the actual TV series with her fiction producing an emotional piece that works well as a transition between DESTINY and THE QUEST. **GABRIELLE'S HOPELESS by Joanna
This NEEDS to be REQUIRED reading for EVERY Xenite after a viewing of the
episode GABRIELLE'S HOPE!!! HYSTERICAL does not even come close to
describing this guys! If we have a sketch like this to look forward to
after each of the rift episodes, THEN I WANT A LONGER RIFT!!! In fact, we
could just have a couple of seasons worth of rifts!! Set after the events
in GH, this has our innocent little bard and a slightly CLUELESS Warrior
Princess "discovering" an abandoned baby girl floating down the river in a
basket. While Xena is then wondering how they can find the missing
parents, Gabrielle is busy bonding with the little tyke...and trying to
keep her from eating bloody hearts before dinner. Keep all liquids away
from the keyboard for this one and get your sides ready because they are
going to HURT!!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 6 pgs., 11/2/97

GABRIELLE'S SCROLLS SERIES - Read in the order listed below
GABRIELLE'S SHOCK by Marie E. Costa
Set after the episode ALTERED STATES, this vignette reveals one of Xena's
many skills - her expertise at blackmail! ;-) Suffice it to say Gabrielle
has NO chance! - 11 pgs., 9/7/97

GAME AT CYRENE (THE) by Joseph Anderson
Xena tells Gabrielle about a particularly bloody time from her past.
Joseph's characterization of the warlord Xena is ruthless and suitably
shocking. Note: This story contains violence. [See also the sequel DOLON]. - 8 pgs., 11/24/97

**GAMES by WordWarior
This is an absolute MUST READ for ever Xenite out there!! A story in the
grand tradition of that classic of episodes A DAY IN THE LIFE. The tale
finds our two heroines playing "games" to pass the time as they
unsuccessfully try to stay dry in the middle of a heavy downpour. Stuck
with a mysteriously smelly blanket, Xena agrees to play another of the
Gabster's "creative" games in hopes of exchanging blankets. It is a
decision she will live to regret as things go from bad to worse for the
poor warrior. Wordee's characterizations of Xena and Gabrielle are dead on
and simply beyond compare. This is GUARANTEED to make you forget all rifty
thoughts and put a big ol' grin on your face. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! -

GIFT OF THE HEART (A) by Hobbes
Sweet little vignette set immediately after the events in the episode A DAY
IN THE LIFE which has Gabrielle surprising the Warrior Princess and Xena
responding with a surprise of her own. - 3 pgs., 6/11/97

GIRL TALK by Maureen McGowan
I don't think I've read a Maureen McGowan story that HASN'T brought both a
smile to my face and a tear to my eyes - this latest effort by her is no
different. Maureen's XWP stories are structured around the unbreakable
bond between warrior and bard, lending them a heartwarming quality that
makes for an excellent read. This new tale finds the Warrior Princess
stuck in a cave while an injury heals with Gabrielle trying to sooth her
restlessness. Faced with this monumental challenge, the bard resorts to
her best weapon - the gift of conversation, never suspecting the rewards
she will reap from this effort. Very sweet story. - 10 pgs., 4/19/97

GO HOME, GABRIELLE by Eddie A. Palmer
This is a delightful story written as a script that will remind you very
much of season one Xena complete with a Warrior Princess in trouble, a very
stubborn bard, the token red shirt, and a nice combination of drama, humor
and action. Sweet and nicely written. - 32 pgs., 6/5/98

GODDESS OF WAR by Ecuyer
Interesting story which gives a different spin to the ending of the episode
TEN LITTLE WARLORDS. In this tale Xena does not give Ares back his sword
but instead becomes the Goddess of War. A destitute Gabrielle then finds
herself trying to remake her life, now in the company of Argo, Joxer and a
suddenly mild-mannered Ares. This is well-written and features some
poignant moments. - 13 pgs., 10/30/97

GOLDEN MOMENTS by Lara Zielinsky
Set during the period in between the episodes UNCHAINED HEARTS and SINS OF THE PAST, this little tale follows Xena as she takes the first steps toward truly abandoning her life as a warlord and meets a kindred soul ready to help her on that journey. This is a nice story about the beginning of one of the most special friendships in the warrior's life. - 9 pgs., 12/21/97, re-released 1/5/99

GOOD DAY TO DIE (A) by Mark Annetts
A retelling of the episode A GOOD DAY featuring a very different outcome for the final battle, an emotional decision from a shattered warrior and a fateful change of heart from a frustrated god. Intense with a clever twist. - 7 pgs., 3/15/00

GOOD DAY TOO (A) by L.N. James
In a departure for this veteran bard, LN revisits the conclusion of the episode A GOOD DAY showing things from Temecula's perspective as he tries to come to grips with the life he took and to understand the words of solace another who's been there tries to share with him. Poignant look at a coming of age in a violent, unforgiving world. - 4 pgs., 6/20/99

**GREAT TURKEY CRUSADE (THE)
OR T.L.F. (TURKEY LIBERATION FRONT) ON THE OFFENSIVE by Silk
An absolutely delightful sequel to Silk's recent story THE GREAT TURKEY
MYSTERY which finds warrior and bard back in Amphipolis, this time
to celebrate Solstice. Minutes after arriving, Xena is besieged by her
former fellow conspirators from some weeks back who are still harboring the
escapees from the Harvest festival and badly in need of help in order to
assure the safety of these. To the rescue comes the Great Turkey Liberator
ready to unleash more mischief on the unsuspecting adults of Amphipolis in
a Solstice none of them will soon forget! A precious story with a very
unusual characterization of the fierce Warrior Princess. HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED! - 7 pgs., 12/11/97

One of the funniest series in Xena fanfic keeps getting...FUNNIER! The
Great Turkey Liberator and her bard return to Amphipolis in this third
story were they discover that their heroic efforts on behalf of a few
feathered friends have led to some...unforeseen developments ;-) Adding to

with "Destroyer of Nations". Set during the Harvest festival in
Amphipolis, the story has the residents of the town getting ready for the
festivities when to their horror they discover that the main ingredients

**GREAT TURKEY STAMPEDE
(THE) OR T.L.F. (TURKEY LIBERATION FRONT) TO THE RESCUE by Silk
Another "turkey" of a story that is taking Xena's reputation in an entirely
new direction :) On their way to Amphipolis, the bard and a disgruntled
Warrior Princess spy old enemies of Greece trying to reassert themselves
after the last sound beating they got so Xena and the Gabster decide to
give them a reminder...this time with some feathered help ;-) Very cute.

GREENSONG by Jessi Alabano
A really nicely written, funny, story that reads VERY much like an actual
episode, combining the zanny humor and the poignant moments we've come to
expect from the lighter entries in TV series. As the story begins, a
reluctant Xena and Gabrielle find themselves once again having to save
Joxer who is running for his life - a young woman beside him and an angry
mob of villagers in hot pursuit. His crime - robbing the villagers of
their last virgin. Xena and Gabrielle can't quite comprehend the young
woman's actions until she explains that as a virgin she was going to be
sacrificed to a deadly sea serpent. The four then are joined by a
naturalist wood nymph who despite trying to convince them that they
shouldn't hurt the poor, misunderstood sea serpent, agrees to help them
protect the village from Poseidon's wrath. Working together, the allies
learn the meaning of friendship and courage while gaining a new insight
into the delicate balance between all living things on the planet. -

GUARDIAN OF THE PEOPLE by Whattawoman
This dark, very well-written story has Xena deciding that she must push
Gabrielle away for the bard's own good. In so doing, however, she suddenly
discovers she may have left the bard right in the middle of a deadly danger
- a danger that may ultimately result in Xenas greatest fears becoming
reality. Featuring a stunning conclusion, this is a must-read for fans of
the bard. - 28 pgs., 4/12/97
