NATURE OF POWER (THE) by Melissa
Melissa presents a fascinating pairing here in a story that has the God of War and the Bard of Poteidaia trapped in a prison strong enough to hold even the mighty Ares. Their only chance of escaping rests on Ares' somehow becoming stronger but for that to happen the mortal with him is going to have to bring herself to honor him - while Ares struggles to keep himself from killing the...er...beautiful little pest. Sparks FLY every which way in this sizzling tale that features very likeable characterizations of the principals and a surprisingly compelling chemistry between the two. General fanfic readers should consider calling their alt. fanfic reading friends for the phone number of the Amazon Ice Co. before tackling this one ;-) A MUST READ in particular for fans of the God of War. DO NOT MISS! - 36 pgs., 12/7/98

**NEPENTHEAN by Baermer
Gripping story with a sense of mystery that has Xena and Gabrielle falling into the clutches of an evil warlord intent on using the bard to exact a cruel revenge on Xena. To their rescue come several old friends including a Joxer who is less goofy than usual and a strange old woman who visits Xena in the warrior's darkest moments, encouraging her to have faith and to trust that help is on the way. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 28 pgs., 5/29/97

**NEXT DAY (THE) by Hobbes
Coming on the heels of THE ISLAND, this story is really a series of little vignettes depicting the exchanges between Xena and Gab as they travel the countryside. It has the same feel as the episode A DAY IN THE LIFE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 14 pgs., 3/29/98

NINE LIVES ARE NOT ENOUGH by Fu Bard
A story that will have every cat lover grinning as the warrior and bard learn just what a challenge one innocent little feline can be >:) Very cute! DO NOT MISS! - 8 pgs., 9/20/98

**NO DOUBT by Rebekah
From the writer of the now classic ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT comes an extraordinary new story that is a MUST READ for every Xenite out there who loves these characters and has anguished over the recent challenges they've been facing in the third season. Set immediately after the events in the episode BETRAYAL - DEBT II, the story begins with a weakened Xena being helped out of the ruins of Ming T'Ien's throne room by a bard who is herself nursing injuries both to her body and her soul. Guilt-ridden, Gabrielle tries to concentrate on helping the warrior and the other released prisoners. All the while Xena is sensing the bard's despair and searching for a way to once again solidify the friendship they both value above all else. This is a hurt/comfort story that encompasses injuries both physical and spiritual. Rebekah's treatment of the Xena/Gab relationship is incredibly effective, revealing an understanding of the characters that is insightful, sensitive and powerful. Beautifully written, this is a story that will make you "feel" for these two friends in a way that surpasses even what the TV series can inspire. A marvelous gift for us all that receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!! - 51 pgs., 1/28/98, re-released 12/3/99

NOBLE HEART by Maggie
This was one of the entries in the recent NetForum bard contest. In keeping with other fiction by Maggie, it is a very well-written tale that has Xena and Gabrielle falling victims to a vicious effort by the loathsome Strife to destroy their friendship and return Xena to his Uncle's fold. - 25 pgs., 4/17/97

NOT SO GUILTY PLEASURES by The Rabbit in Pink Rabbit Productions
This is a very short vignette and a clear-cut example of black comedy which explores what would have happened if Xena and the Gabster had met while the warrior was still a warlord. What can I say - it cracked me up! ;-) - 2 pgs., 10/30/97

NOW I REMEMBER by My Warrior
A sequel to the story I HAD FORGOTTEN which continues the poignant observations of Cyrene as she watches her daughter care for a recovering bard. Touching depiction of the relationship as seen through another's eyes. DO NOT MISS! [See the alt. sequel WHATEVER BROUGHT US TO THIS MOMENT] - 4 pgs., 1/30/99

NUTBREAD! by Xenrielle
The Warrior Princess reveals a very different side of herself when she and and her bard join some village kids for an old game. Sweet. - 5 pgs., 11/3/98
