**MATERNAL MISTAKES by Joanna
Once again as she's done so many times this season - Joanna comes through in a clutch - bringing us another OUTSTANDING little sketch to soothe the agony of all these rift episodes. First we got the CHANGING OF THE BARD, then GABRIELLE'S HOPELESS and that epic of epics...THE DEBIT. Now in MATERNAL MISTAKES Joanna illustrates the deep agony both Xena and Gabrielle are feeling as they sit at separate campfires. Just when it looks as if things couldn't get worse, out pop those beloved escapees from Joanna's COMING OUT SERIES - the Poteidaian CHORUS!!! - determined to use their VAST musical and rhyming skills to bring about a reconciliation between warrior and bard! Will Xena and Gab ever share a campfire again? Can Xena keep herself from permanently "disbanding" the Poteidaian CHORUS? ...Will the bard EVER get a nicely roasted marshmallow?! 8-| As it attempts to answer these crucial questions, MATERNAL MISTAKES will likely do some serious damage to your funny bone but hey - it's the best free psychotherapy all of us frustrated fans are likely to get!! MISSING: HAVE YOU SEEN ME? by Allison
This is something we haven't seen much in the world of XWP fan fiction - an interactive story where the reader has some choice in what happens next. The basic premise has Xena trying to save Gabrielle from a very dangerous situation. How the story actually evolves, however, is all up to YOU. There are LOTS of guest appearances in this including Herc, Callisto, Autolycus, and Salmoneous. Different and fun. - 21 pgs., 6/9/97

MORTAL GAMES: THE AMULETS OF WAR by Raistlyn
This is a follow-up of sorts to the story MEMORIES IN DARKNESS written by Dancyer McCoy. The tale has Xena and the bard joining with several of their friends on a quest to try to retrieve four very powerful amulets before these fall into the wrong hands. Lots of action in this and a nice depiction of the Xena/Gab friendship. - 22 pgs., 6/18/98 http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Chamber/7473/amuletsofwar.html

MORTAL MALES WHO'VE MET THE WARRIOR PRINCESS AND HER BARD COMPANION AND SURVIVED OR THE SURVIVOR'S HALL OF FAME by Mary E. Terrell

MORTAL TRADE (A) by Mary Morgan
Mary's latest is an eerie tale packing quite a punch. It begins with a beautiful warrior insinuating herself into the employ of a vicious warlord by showing just how inadequate his present lieutenants are. Recuperating from an illness, Gabrielle has stayed behind while her partner works to rid the region of the warlord but troubling dreams spur her to go after Xena terrified that a deadly evil will ensnare the warrior. On the way she comes across a small, traumatized survivor of one the raids and further proof that the evil they're facing is unlike anything they've ever faced before - powerful, inhuman and intelligent - hungry for blood and intent on recruiting one Warrior Princess to help it obtain more... With the evil kept purposely vague, this is a mysterious, troubling story with a surprising ending and a poignant lesson about price of survival. - 24 pgs., 10/17/99

MOTHER'S PLEA (A) by Eimajj
Gripping sequel to Eimajj's excellent story THE CONTEST, which has Gabrielle and Xena's mother trying to help the warrior recuperate from her injuries and overcome the serious addiction to painkillers she's developed. This story is well-written and different - depicting the warrior in a very vulnerable light. - 20 pgs., 5/27/97

**MOTHERS by B L Miller
B.L. has now released a general fiction version of this very popular alt. story. Vent on destroying Gabrielle whom she sees as unworthy of being Queen, a dangerous Amazon warlord kidnaps both Xena's mother and the bard's - planning on forcing Gabrielle to meet her in battle without the interference of the Warrior Princess. Despite the edge-of-your-seat suspense in this, it is B.L.'s very unique blend of humor and drama that will captivate you. A definite winner! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 30 pgs., 11/9/97
https://ausxip.com/fanfic/mothers2.html

**MOUTH OF BABES (THE) by Maggie
A BEAUTIFUL Solstice story that acts as a sequel to Maggie's previous tale THE SILVER FOX. Having recovered somewhat from the recent ordeal in the land of Chin, the Xena and Gabrielle nevertheless find their friendship still deeply affected. There's a distance between them that frustrates both making them short-tempered and unsure. It is a problem that becomes of secondary importance when a little orphan girl comes into their lives. Unbeknownst to the warrior and bard, however, the waif's presence will have a pronounce effect on them both reminding them of the very special love and friendship they share and prompting them at last to face the fears that have been keeping them apart. This is a very touching and timely story which ties in well with the current challenges the two friends are facing in the TV series. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 40 pgs., 12/25/97

WONDERFUL! A mystery story with lots of characters from the XWP episode in which Gab is at the academy. This is a wild, suspenseful ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat 'til the very end. As a plus it features a terrific depiction of the friendship between our two fearless heroines. A MUST READ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 56 pgs., 12/96
