Definition of Warlord/Slave fiction

NEGOTIATIONS by a href="https://lunacyreviews.ausxip.com/Gin.shtm.htm">Gin
This new bard's first fanfic piece is set in the world of Xena the Conqueror we saw in the Hercules episode ARMAGEDDON NOW. Gin takes some liberties with the story as presented in that episode, creating a world in which Xena has not yet conquered all though she's well on her way. Still to be vanquished is the proud Amazon Nation. Standing between the Conqueror and that particular prize is a Poteidaian turned Queen who having been rescued from slavers by the Amazon a few years back, now rules the Nation with a fierce protectiveness. To the amazement of her Amazon sisters, the young queen chooses not to fight the Destroyer of Nations but to reach out to her. It is a desperate gamble but one which Gabrielle must take, knowing as ruler just how deadly the Conqueror can be but remembering a five-year old who once saw a very different side of the Warrior Princess. Based on the premise that love can indeed conquer all, this story includes some clever tie-ins with regular Xena history and even with other fan fiction. This was one of the entries in the recent NetForum bard contest. In keeping with other fiction by Maggie, it is a very well-written tale that has Xena and Gabrielle falling victims to a vicious effort by the loathsome Strife to destroy their friendship and return Xena to his Uncle's fold. - 4/17/97

This is a very short vignette and a clear-cut example of black comedy which explores what would have happened if Xena and the Gabster had met while the warrior was still a warlord. What can I say - it cracked me up! ;-) - 10/30/97

When an amnesiac Xena returns to her evil ways - joining forces with the warlord she was supposed to be fighting, Gabrielle does the only thing she can to try to get close to her friend - she joins their army as a bard and then starts planning a way to get HER Xena back. This is the long-awaited follow-up to Vada's FULL CIRCLE and it is a stand-out, maintaining the dark themes and the excellent quality of writing of the first story. On their way to visit Antea - Xena's first love and now trusted friend, the warrior and Gabrielle are happier than ever, in love and looking forward to the vacation. It is a happiness that will be short-lived, however, as the two fall victim to deadly predators - one human, one immortal, in a deadly attack that will change their lives forever, plunging their love into a darkness from which it may never recover. Vada's depiction of a happy Xena and Gabrielle is so loving and passionate, that it makes the ordeal they are forced into very poignant and griping. An outstanding read! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 7/25/97
