JOURNAL #1 - Gabrielle meets the Warrior Princess, learns about life on the road, starts to use her bardic skills in earnest and gets a sobbering lesson in what it means to kill. This journal covers the events depicted in the TV episodes SINS OF THE PAST, CHARIOTS OF WAR, and DREAMWORKER. - 4 pgs., 5/13/97
https://ausxip.com/journal/journal1.htmlJOURNAL #2 - In this part of the journal Gabrielle writes about how Xena saved a baby, she observes her friend's pain over the loss of Marcus and recounts their first encounter with Aries when he framed Xena for the murder of some innocent villagers. This journal covers the events depicted in the TV episodes CRADLE OF HOPE, THE PATH NOT TAKEN and THE RECKONING. - 4 pgs., 5/27/97
https://ausxip.com/journal/journal2.htmlJOURNAL #3 - One of the nicest things about this series is the glimpse it provides into the bard's mind and soul as she travels with the Warrior Princess, learning and growing. This latest installment, in particular, reveals a bard that is very much in awe of her companion while remaining endearingly unaware of her own uniqueness. We see the mischievous tenacity that will someday turn the girl into an Amazon queen - worthy partner for the Warrior Princess. Most of all, we continue to see a gentle soul leading another out of darkness. Journal #3 covers the events depicted in the TV episodes TITAN, PROMETHEUS and DEATH IN CHAINS. - 5 pgs., 6/5/97
https://ausxip.com/journal/journal3.htmlJOURNAL #4 - In this latest parchment we see Gabrielle begin to give serious thought to the craft of storytelling as she takes Xena's advice and starts to look for her own voice. We see the bard experience one of the most significant events of her young life as with a show of courage she earns the gratitude of a dying warrior and the right to call the Amazon Nation her own. Finally we see the first reunion of Gabrielle and Perdicus since she left Potidaea and in a telling passage, read about the young bard's guilt over the path her former betrothed has now taken. This journal covers the period depicted in the episodes HOOVES AND HARLOTS, THE BLACK WLOLF and BEWARE OF GREEK BEARING GIFTS. - 5 pgs., 6/25/97
https://ausxip.com/journal/journal4.htmlJOURNAL #5 - Gabrielle travels to Athens to test her mettle as a bard in the famous Academy of Performing Bards only to find that studying the art of storytelling cannot live up to the exitement of living her stories...and that she misses the Warrior Princess terribly. Reunited the two then embark on an adventure to search for treasure with one of Xena's old loves and finally end up at a kingdom with a princess that looks remarkably similar to the Warrior Princess. - 4 pgs., 7/20/97
https://ausxip.com/journal/journal5.htmlJOURNAL #6 - Gabrielle meets Marcus and observes as her companion goes through the pain of losing him again, later they team up with the infamous King of Thieves to retrieve a valued chest, and finally, Gabrielle returns to Potidaea trying to find her confidence again after freezing during an attack on the road. - 4 pgs., 7/20/97

**JOURNEY INTO DARKNESS by Godot
This is the third installment in a trilogy which began with EMBODIMENT OF EVIL and then continued in THE SOUL CATCHER. It is also the fourth Godot story featuring the zany sorceress Antipany first introduced in SING YOU A SONG OF JUSTICE. This tale picks up immediately where THE SOUL CATCHER left of, with Xena, Gabrielle, Antipany and several of their friends heading for a confrontation with the evil wizard Kryptus. Xena and Antipany meanwhile, are heading for a confrontation of their own, each aware that regardless of the mission's outcome, there is unfinished business between them they will have to settle once and for all. This is a rousing, action-packed conclusion to a trilogy that has featured good characterizations throughout and some nice emotional moments. There is some very mild subtext in this. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See in the alternative section the follow-up story DEATH OF DREAMS] - 29 pgs., 11/6/97

**JOURNEY TO CIRRA by JayBird
This EXCELLENT story was one of the entries in the first NetForum contest. Gabrielle is transported back to a time before the destruction of Cirra, Callisto's hometown, to try to save the village and change the course of events that led to the creation of the blonde warlord. In order to do so, however, the bard needs to somehow reach Xena's soul - only in that other time the Xena she faces is the Warrior Princess of old - a ruthless warlord with little time for bards on missions of peace. - 20 pgs., 6/25/97

**JUDGEMENT by Kamouraskan
Every once in a while comes along a story that elevates fanfic beyond the level of entertainment into something that makes us stop to think about the society we live in and the horrifying paradoxes of the human condition. Kamouraskan has managed just such a story with this chilling look at the aftermath of a massacre which has a wounded father finding succor in the presence of two strangers caring for his wounds - two strangers who soon become his only witnesses as he gives testament to the violence which destroyed his family and is now draining his own life away. Featuring some of the most effective writing this bard has ever delivered, this tale casts a spell that will pull you in and then leave you feeling much of the same shock and horror the characters themselves end up immersed in. Definitely not one for the faint-hearted but certainly one for those who appreciate meaningful storytelling. DO NOT MISS! - 3 pgs., 2/27/00

**JUDGEMENT OF THE GODS (THE) by Mary Morgan
This second story by one of the most talented bards to come on the Xenaverse scene in a while, is actually a PRE-quel to Mary's other story AFTER THE VOLCANO. The tale has a furiously determined Xena traveling to the volcanic island of Santorini to avenge a heinous act from the past. By her side as usual is an equally determined bard who sensing the warrior's distress is more certain than ever of the need for her to be close-by as the coming events unfold. Mary does a wonderful job in fleshing out the characters of Xena and Gabrielle, providing insight into their minds and establishing a relationship between them that is very special. A bit of a hurt/comfort story, this tale will touch you, shock you and ultimately reaffirm the power of love and friendship. This is high-caliber writing! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 29 pgs., 10/20/97

JUST A PINCH OF BLACK POWDER by Mary Morgan
Mary's latest is an intriguing story which will likely throw you into a moral dilemma of sorts. It has Xena and Gabrielle visiting a kindly old man who also happens to be a dreamer, an inventor and in Xena's eyes...a threat to the world she's determined to stop no matter the cost. This is well written and thought-provoking. - 10 pgs., 2/18/98

**JUST AN ORDINARY DAY by Scout

favorites. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!. - 6 pgs., 10/96

JUST ANOTHER SKILL by Del_kaidin
Amusing little vignette that has Xena's mother revealing yet another of her daughter's many skills - much to Xena's dismay. - 2 pgs., 6/14/98

**JUSTICE by E.A. Week
A very solid, wonderfully suspenseful new story that has Xena and the bard visiting a mysterious tribe of Amazons whom Gabrielle soon realizes her partner seems to be more familiar with than she's willing to admit. As the only witnesses to a vicious attack on one of the younger Amazons, the two are soon trust into a web of intrigue reaching to the very halls of Olympus while challenging Xena to put old hatreds aside in order to make sure justice is done. This is a nicely crafted story that doesn't give anything away as it slowly unravels one mystery after another. With good characterizations of all the principals and a nice tie-in with the series itself, this is a MUST READ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 37 pgs., 5/25/98

**JUSTICE IN WALSAS by Enginerd
VERY original, highly entertaining story with outstanding characterizations of both warrior and bard. The tale has Gabrielle troubled by a mysterious dream which she soon learns Lila her sister has been having as well. It is a dream that will bring back troubling memories from their past and lead them to a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, Xena herself is troubled by the distance she feels between herself and the bard, never suspecting how hurt Gabrielle feels by this distance and how desperately she wants to close the gap between them. Enginerd's treatment of the Xena/Gab friendship is wonderfully endearing, revealing both their insecurities and their incredible love for one another. This story has everything - suspense, mystery, comedy, adventure and lots of emotion. NOT TO BE MISSED! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! [Do not miss the alt. fiction sequel ON UNCERTAIN GROUND] - 51 pgs., 10/96

KANSAS? by Ilsa
XWP/X-Files crossover that has Mulder and Scully arriving in Ancient Greece just in time to help a certain warrior and bard fight the Horde. Some amusing scenes in this one. - 16 pgs., 12/3/98

**KILLING TIME by Tim Wellman
A classic little tale from the past returns! Originally released on the NetForum back in January 1997, this story was recently lost when the SCI-FI CENTRAL FAN FICTION ARCHIVES closed but now thankfully, Tim has made it available once again. Original and intense, KILLING TIME has the the souls from a village Xena once destroyed deciding to take their revenge on the Warrior Princess...and using Xena's one weakness in order to do so. Nicely written, this story revolves around the themes and strengths of the show's first two seasons. DO NOT MISS!! - 20 pgs., 3/25/98

KISMET? by Del_kaidin
Offered as an alternative to the episode BITTER SUITE, this intriguing new tale begins immediately after MATERNAL INSTINCTS with a distraught Gabrielle walking away from Xena and heading for the Temple of the Fates where she offers her very life in exchange for Solon, but the goddesses have other things in mind... With only one chapter released so far, this tale has solid promise. - 5 pgs., 4/12/98

**KISS OF LETHE by Scarabae
This reads like an EPIC spanning five years in the lives of our heroines! I can see this story being turned into a feature film. The tale opens with a very tired, dejected Gabrielle still in search of her beloved friend Xena after not having seen the Warrior Princess for over five years. Unbeknownst to the determined bard, the two were pulled apart by the scheming of a vengeful god whose terrible plans may become reality unless Gabrielle can prove that love and friendship will always triumph over evil. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 35 pgs., 11/96
