I HAD FORGOTTEN by My Warrior
Emotional hurt/comfort tale featuring a shifting point-of-view technique that has Xena and Gabrielle visiting the warrior's mother in Amphipolis when an old enemy decides to extract a terrible revenge on the Warrior Princess. IDES OF MARCH (THE) by Mark Alger
Set a decade after Xena and Gabrielle first meet, this intense story has the warrior still haunted by the vision of her partner dying on a cross when a new vision calls her to Rome demanding that she be there before the Ides of March comes to pass. Unable to shake the determined bard, Xena heads for the center of the Roman Empire and toward a meeting with destiny as the two become pawns in a deadly political struggle fated to change the very course of history. Mark does a nice job incorporating the events of the TV series and of history itself into his storyline delivering a very solid, riveting tale that could play out well as an episode. [note: story contains some subtextual references]. - 37 pgs., 1/13/99

**IN A DEEP SLEEP by Zwolf
The King of Spoilers tries his hand at XWP fanfic and suceeds in droves creating a very original, very gory, very chilling story that should particularly please fans of the horror genre. The story has Xena and the Gabster going up against a warlord vent on world domination. On the surface it would seem like a run-of-the-mill challenge for warrior and bard but this is one warlord with a very different kind of army - an army of the undead that just continues to grow and grow. With a nice depiction of the relationship amidst a truly spooky storyline, this one is perfect for those dark, rainy nights ;-) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 31 pgs., 3/97

IN MY LIFE by WarriorNutcase
Inspired by the Lennon/McCartney song which gives this story its title, WarriorNutcase writes about the moments immediately following the events in SACRIFICE II, presenting us with a poignant picture of a very heart-broken Warrior Princess. The story has the feel of a music video :) [See also the sequel A PLACE IN THE WORLD] - 4 pgs., 8/5/98

IN THE DARKNESS by Hobbes
Xena places herself in the hands of deadly enemies as part of a plan to help villagers recapture their freedom. All the while a certain bard is very worried about the plan and determined to step in before it's too late. Good suspenseful moments in a tale which celebrates the loyalty and love between warrior and bard. [See the sequel IN THE INTERIM] - 13 pgs., 6/25/98

IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER by Enginerd
This amusing little tale from one of our fanfic veterans finds the warrior and bard trapped in a cave where they discover these mysterious scrolls chronicling quite an outlandish future for the two of them. A concerned Gabrielle worries about the pain and betrayals, the lies and hatred those scrolls seem to predict but the Warrior Princess knows exactly what to do with them ;-) As always, Enginerd excels at portraying a Xena and Gab that are clearly best friends and soulmates, enjoying each other's company, able to tease one another, able to share their fears. She recaptures that second
season feel in a tale that makes a statement and is fun at the same time.
- 11 pgs., 8/14/00

IN THE INTERIM by Hobbes
This heartwarming sequel to IN THE DARKNESS finds Xena still handicapped after the torture she recently experienced and a very determined bard stubbornly standing by her side. Hobbes has always excelled at depicting the deep friendship between these two women and she continues to do so, producing stories that never fail to tug those heart strings. DO NOT MISS! - 8 pgs., 7/6/98

IN THE TWILIGHT HOUR by Raistlyn
In the tradition of Katrina's BLOOD AND ROSES vampire alt. series comes this new tale from Raistlyn which puts a slightly different spin on things with a three thousand year old warrior recalling the time so long ago when her life would change for ever and the little bard whose love would always be a part of her. Nicely poignant - DO NOT MISS! [See the sequel TWILIGHT'S PROMISE] -- 5 pgs., 8/16/98

IOLAUS TRICK IN THE BOOK by Jaybird
This one will leave a grin on your face! A delightful little tale that has Iolus planning a clever trick for Xena as he waits for her and Gabrielle at a village. As it turns out though - things don't go exactly as planned... ;-) Note: the story includes subtext. - 6 pgs., 9/7/97

**IRKED by Hobbes
Originally released on the NetForum in May 1997, this is one of a collection of WONDERFUL stories Hobbes wrote around this time about the day-to-day lives of Xena and Gabrielle - dealing with their friendship and their growth as human beings. This particular tale has the two coming upon a cute little mongrel named Trouble whose name foreshadows some of the inner conflicts they will soon be dealing with when Gabrielle faces some hidden insecurities and fears she's been avoiding for too long. Hobbes captures the playful, loving and committed friendship between warrior and bard beautifully. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 15 pgs., May 1997, re-released 12/11/97

**ISLAND (THE) by Hobbes
Hobbes first Xena fan fiction piece, this was originally posted on the NetForum back in March 1997 initiating a series of serial stories from this bard that quickly made her a favorite with Nutballs. It is a sweet tale of friendship that has the Gabster continuing to chip away at the walls the Warrior Princess puts up when the two find themselves stuck on a desert island. [See also the sequel THE NEXT DAY] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 28 pgs., 3/29/98

ISLE OF MEDUSA by GabbysHOPE
This is a well-written, fast-paced action tale set after the fourth season which has Xena and Gabrielle joining a band of adventurers, including some familiar faces, on a quest to stop the strange going-ons on the island once known as the home of the dreaded monster Medusa. This reads very much like a TV episode. - 44 pgs., 8/16/99

IT BEGINS WHERE IT ENDS by Xenrielle
Chronicling the random thoughts of a gravely ill Gabrielle as she hovers near death, this vignette is both touching and amusing. - 2 pgs., 4/5/98

IT HAPPENED ONE SOLSTICE by Troi5
This story is just plain CUTE! A quirky little tale that has a Gabrielle and a grumpy Warrior Princess encountering all sorts of unusual things on Solstice Eve - from a rather strange looking reindeer, to people roasting these oversize nuts, to their old friend Senticles. Despite the unusual sightings, however, at the heart of the story is a reaffirmation of the love between these two friends and the beautiful spirit of this Winter celebration. If this doesn't put you in the Solstice spirit NOTHING will! :) - 7 pgs., 12/11/97
http://www.amazontrails.com/xena/solstice.htm
IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC by Beaugrnt
A very clever XWP/HIGHLANDER crossover tale that has the warrior, Gabrielle and some of the other characters from XWP living in an Ancient Greece where the immortals from HIGHLANDER are a reality. In these first two chapters, the immortal Xena of Amphipolis, former Warrior Princess, comes upon a young girl desperately fighting the raiders who have already decimated her village. Recognizing what the young woman, named Gabrielle, is and why the raiders want her, the warrior becomes determined to save her from a fate she knows all too well. Beaugrnt does a nice job of integrating the characters of XWP with the elements of the two series. This should be a fun read for fans of both XWP and HIGHLANDER. - 25 pgs., 8/31/97

IT'S AN ILL WIND OR CAUGHT IN A DRAFT by L. Fox
This piece is sort of like Xena meets GI JANE...or rather Gabrielle does when she's mistaken for a G-A-B-R-I-E-L and drafted into the Poteidaian army ;-) Some very funny moments in this including a psychological test that will have you grinning from ear to ear. [Note: the story contains subtext] - 10 pgs., 3/26/98

IT'S HARD TO BE A BARD by L. Fox
For all of you out there who thought being a Xena bard was a glamorous job, comes at long last the painful truth from one of the veterans in the business. We are made privy to the abuse this poor bard must endure as he attempts to write his latest fanfic masterpiece while dealing with cranky webmasters, marketing temptations, those ever supportive readers, and a little-known nuisance called...real life ;-) An expose extraordinaire that needs to go on every Xenite's MUST READ list! Oh and L...that reviewing kit...much too expensive... got it WAY cheaper myself. I'll e-mail yah ;-) Now...lemme see...where's that dart?...DO NOT MISS!! - 7 pgs., 1/28/99
