**WHAT DAD DOESN’T KNOW, WON’T GET HIM KILLED by FlyBigD
In an ADORABLE sequel to WHAT MOM DOESN’T KNOW, WON’T KILL HER the Warrior Princess turns the table on her mischievous partner during a visit to the bard's hometown. **WHAT PRICE REDEMPTION by Dr. Bob
Dr. Bob is at it AGAIN with this, his fourth novel which continues the story told in BEGINNINGS, THE SPRING FESTIVAL, A SOUL REUNITED and THE SILENT CITY. Xena and the bard accept a job helping to protect a caravan carrying an important antidote to a town where the water supply was poisoned. On this journey they will continue exploring their relationship body and soul, even as they form new friendships with those traveling on the caravan and work to decipher the mystery of the caravan leader - an accomplished warrior named Ian with a young traveling companion of his own and a haunted past. Very well-written this story like Dr. Bob's previous works stands out for the strong characterizations and the HIGHLY passionate treatment given to the Xena/Gab relationship. Taking some liberties with the events depicted in the episode REMEMBER NOTHING, this story exudes raw emotion as it chronicles Gabrielle's thoughts in the hours following her escape from slavery. The Gabrielle depicted here is a young woman scarred both physically and emotionally, who desperately wants to believe in the golden savior of her dreams but is too terrified to accept the love being offered by the incarnation of that savior. **WHEN THE NIGHT CLOSES IN by Sharon Bowers
This latest entry in Katrina's BLOOD AND ROSES SERIES is a crossover story which has Xena and Gabrielle meeting the Louis from Anne Rice's commercial novel INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE. Written in a style reminiscent of the novel itself, this tale has the men who originally published the incredible interview of the vampire Louis discovering two lost chapters from the original manuscript. In them Louis remembers his encounter one night with the immortal Xena and shortly thereafter with her lover - the Ancient bard with whom he and his kind share a distant kinship. This is well-written with rich characterizations that do justice both to the XWP characters and to Anne Rice's own. As seen through the eyes of the vampire, the bond between Xena and Gabrielle is breathtakingly sensual, strong, and timeless. This is a MUST READ which should particularly appeal to fans of both XWP and Rice's novels. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 22 pgs., 12/21/97

Determined to get Gabrielle out of Xena's life, Ares changes the past, placing them in a different reality where Xena never saved the bard from slavers and Gabrielle never left her home village. Much to his chagrin, however, the two are fated to meet in this life as well as Xena, uncovering a plot to attack Potidaea, travels to the village to help protect it and there finds herself strangely drawn to the barmaid turned bard with red-gold hair. **WHEN XENA CAME TO TOWN by WordWarior
This new tale from WordWarior is a departure from her usually dark, serious pieces - and an absolutely marvelous one at that! It is a story told by a tiny aspiring bard who on a certain day finds herself hiding with Digger, her best friend, when right before them their hero appears, the Warrior Princess, to fight the thugs threatening their town. Told from a child's perspective, this story has a tender quality to it that is thoroughly endearing. We get to see Xena and "stick lady" through the eyes of innocence and the picture painted is one guaranteed to warm your heart. WordWarior has shown in previous stories an uncanny knack for creating unforgettable characters. With a nameless little girl, she once again exerts that skill in this new offering. The story has NO graphic scenes in it at all. It is appropriate for all ages and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to every Xenite out there. - 4 pgs., 6/97

**WHIFF OF BRIMSTONE (A) by Chris M.
A crossover story featuring characters from XENA and the recent FOX TV series BRIMSTONE as well as references to a number of other current TV shows, this little tale should put a grin on fans of popular television. Part of the BLOOD AND ROSES Altaverse series> which has Gabrielle as the immortal daughter of Bacchus and Xena as the immortal child of Ares, the story begins with Gabrielle on her way to Sunnydale to interview for a teaching job at the High School there when she runs into a mysterious figure at the airport - a woman with a distinct scent and a dark purpose Gabrielle is compelled to learn more about. Her efforts soon reveal the woman as one of 113 souls recently escaped from the bowels of Hell and determined now to make humanity pay for turning its back on the gods that once gave her power. Thinking that she needs to interfere with the vengeful soul's plans, Gabrielle is about to do that when she finds herself face to face with yet another mysterious figure - a stylish man with longish hair who assures the ancient bard that he has matters well in hand then proceeds to introduce himself...as Lucifer. Chris does a wonderful job of merging the worlds of XENA and BRIMSTONE, capturing the essence of the characters and excelling in particular with the characterization of that wicked but disarmingly charming devil from BRIMSTONE. With the references to other TV and historical personalities this should be a fun read even for those who didn't follow the BRIMSTONE TV series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 16 pgs., 4/2/99
