**LONGEST NIGHT (THE) by Melissa Good
Starting immediately where WINTER'S ENDING left off, Missy's latest novel immediately captures the heart and the imagination with the very distinctive style of storytelling that fan fiction aficionados have come to recognize as among the best the Xenaverse has to offer. Still in Amphipolis where Gabrielle has been recovering from her recent ordeal, Xena and the bard learn from some refugees of the activities of raiders in the surrounding areas. Worried for Gabrielle's family who will be traveling to Amphipolis to attend their planned joining ceremony, the two decide to head out to meet them. Despite their genuine concern, the decision reflects a growing need they've both had to return to the freedom of life on the road - the freedom to enjoy the closeness they now share and the natural world that was their only home for so long - only the beauty of that world can be deceptive, hiding dangers both natural and man-made. Missy continues in this story to look at the deepening love between these two women - exploring how this love is allowing one heart to flourish and the other to start healing at last. There's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you read a Missy story folks. This bard knows how to touch all the right buttons. Should come as no surprise to anyone who's read her previous novels that this one gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! [See the sequel REFLECTIONS FROM THE PAST, part of the JOURNEY OF SOULMATES SERIES] - 285 pgs., 11/29/97
FANFIC ART:
LONGING (THE) by Protek
This newest entry in the INFINITY SERIES begun by Redhawk, this new story finds the immortal Xena of Amphipolis remembering the time she first escaped from her self-imposed exile in the jungles of the Amazon to embrace the world again. It was a juncture that would take her to Europe and then on a long sea voyage headed to the United States aboard a majestic liner on her maiden voyage in April 1912. Protek successfully presents here the mixture of past and present that are common to stories in the INFINITY SERIES and that were a hallmark of the HIGHLANDER TV series on which the series is partly based. Particularly timely given the current interest on the specific liner featured here, this tale is entertaining and well-written. DO NOT MISS! [See also the follow-up BLOODLUST] - 34 pgs., 2/11/99

**LONGING AND BELONGING by T. Novan
Written from Gabrielle's perspective, this latest chapter in the RAISING MELOSA SERIES is sweet and poignant all at once as the bard enjoys her beautiful family and most especially her beautiful warrior but finds herself wishing she could recapture those memories of precious moments from the past. A perfect addition to this remarkable series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 5 pgs., 3/18/99

LOOSED ENDS by Ogami
Ogami rewrites the ending of the episode BITTER SUITE, providing a resolution the series has yet to give us (and probably never will). Recommended in particular for fellow rift-haters. - 4 pgs., 4/14/98

LOST SCROLLS OF THE AMAZONS (THE) by Allyson Heisey
Xena and Gabrielle discover an underground chamber containing Amazons scrolls lost long ago which recount the sad story of a fallen queen and the champion who was unable to save her. As danger once again threatens the Amazons, the power in those scrolls will come alive offering hope to the Amazons and a chance for redemption to one of their own. Imaginative story with all our favorite Amazons :) - 40 pgs., 2/28/98

**LOST TRIBE OF THE KAPRU KALE (THE) by Baermer
One of my favorite writers returns with a follow-up of sorts to her tale MANTIC which explored Gabrielle's powers of prophecy. This new story opens with the bard experiencing another of her debilitating visions - this one warning of danger for the Amazons...and herself. Soon as they're able to, she and Xena head for Amazonia - arriving there to find that fate has already put into play a series of events they cannot ignore...and may not be able to escape from. This is a terrific hurt/comfort piece built around a suspenseful plot with strong supporting characters and a nicely satisfying depiction of the Xena/Gab relationship. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! LOST WARRIOR PRINCESS (THE) by StarWarrior (Rie)
This is a follow-up to Starwarrior's story WHO HAS THE RIGHT?. It has Xena and Gabrielle finding a young girl in the woods - an orphan with no family left and a stubborn determination to someday take revenge on those who destroyed her life. Hoping to keep the girl from giving in to darkness as the Warrior Princess once did long ago, Xena and Gabrielle set out to find her a home and change a young heart in the process. Sweet and nicely-written. Note: This story is not explicit. - 16 pgs., 8/28/97

**LOVE BURNS BRIGHT by StarWarrior (Rie)
Actually in this story love doesn't just burn bright - it's more like a five-alarm fire! Stock up on that Amazon ice before tackling this one and while you're out picking that up stop by the convenience store and buy some energy bars...you're gonna need them! ;-) Rie's new one is based on a very simple premise - the warrior and bard have a little altercation. Then they decide to make up...and they make up...and make up...and make up...and just when you think they've made up - for good measure...they make up AGAIN! >:) No doubt about our girls' stamina after this...or flexibility for that matter :) Seriously though - a wonderfully passionate, tender, beautiful romantic piece, tiring too but I digress ;-) MUCH better than that big bad rift. A new challenge for those of you who like to be daring at work! NOT TO BE MISSED! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 21 pgs., 3/4/98

**LOVE NEVER FAILS by J. Covington
This excellent follow-up to the JOINING trilogy (ARES' GAME, ESCAPADE, and SECRETS PAST) finds Xena trying to help an old friend fight the raiders threatening her land while Gabrielle, in also trying to help that friend, falls victim to an injury that may forever change both her life and that of the Warrior Princess. The days to follow will be emotional, at times scary and even mischievously funny as the two embark on a journey of rediscovery. Nicely written, romantic and sweet. DO NOT MISS!! - 55 pgs., 9/8/97

**LOVE POTION (THE) by Fu Bard
Gabrielle is feeling a little neglected so when an old merchant offers her a mysterious potion guaranteed to make a certain ex-warlord a tad more romantic she decides to give it a try. What ensues makes for a simply PRICELESS tale as the bard finds herself having to deal with a Warrior Princess who is all of a sudden decidedly more amorous than usual. I just KNOW readers of Fu's latest are gonna be feeling SUCH sympathy for Gabrielle...or NOT! ;-) HUGE grin alert on this very well-written, delightful tale. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 12 pgs., 3/7/99

LOVE SLAVE by Azurenon and Savanna Mac
This story can only be described as blissfully DECADENT ;-) It's Gabrielle's birthday and on Gabrielle's birthday the bard gets WHATEVER she wants so the warrior decides to make one of her partner's fantasies come true, in the process living out one of her own >:) This one will get those hormones pumping I TELL YA! Whew! ;-) A celebration of love and lust! DO NOT MISS! [Part of the BETWEEN THE EPISODES SERIES] - 32 pgs., 7/23/00

**LOVE'S CHOICE by Silk
The first entry in Silk's new TAPESTRY OF LIFE SERIES, this is a beautiful story about love and sacrifice which has Xena having to make a choice - a choice which could bring her the greatest happiness she's ever known or force her to stand aside while she loses her grasp on that happiness. Nicely written story with a poignant twist at the end you wont soon forget. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 10 pgs., 12/8/97
