WE NEVER SAY GOODBYE by T. Novan
Very much in keeping with the spirit of ancient Greek myths, this clever new uber tale is set in the modern world where an immortal warrior continues to struggle against the curse that has kept her from an eternity with her beloved even as it has brought them together again countless times through the ages. T. Novan imbues the story with a combined sense of urgency, desperation and passion that is appropriate for the meeting of two souls always fighting to be together. Original and nicely written. [See the sequel WARRIOR SPIRIT] - 22 pgs., 3/30/99

**WEDDING (THE) by Joanna - [See the COMING OUT SERIES]
WEDDING (THE) by Marion D Tuttle
A sequel to ARES' CHALLENGE which has the warrior and bard returning to the Amazons anxious to share some news only the Amazons have some news of their own. A tenderly romantic little tale. - 9 pgs., 4/5/98

WEDDING GIFT (THE) by Bongo Bear
This story finds Xena and Gabrielle on their honeymoon, very much in love and happy until the bard starts getting "performance anxiety". Not to fear, a certain goddess soon comes to the rescue with an...unusual gift. This tale is funny but may be somewhat of an acquired taste. Oh and be warned...it made me blush. ;-) - 8 pgs., 8/19/97

WEDDING NIGHT by Catherine M. Wilson
This story deals with the darker passions of the human soul, the attraction that dark side sometimes holds for us and the irony of pain born out of love. It explores from an alternative viewpoint the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle in the days after the deaths of Perdicus and Callisto. This is a very well written and thought out story but it is NOT for everyone. There is sexual violence in it and the themes explored may be disturbing. If you read it make sure to also take a look at the fascinating dissertation the author offers via e-mail after the story in which she further discusses the themes involved, the motivations of the characters and her own in writing this piece. [See also the companion piece GABRIELLE'S ANSWER] - 4 pgs., 4/97

**WELCOME HOME by L.N. James
In the world of XWP alt. romances stories by L.N. James are known for taking the reader's breath away. Beyond writing about love or passion, L.N. depicts a connection between our heroines that reaches to the depth of their very souls - a connection that is the essence of all things romantic. In this latest story, L.N. explores that connection as Xena and Gabrielle return to Amphipolis to help the warrior's mother move from the house Xena grew up in. It is an opportunity for the Warrior Princess to share some of her childhood memories with Gabrielle, to remember a time of innocence before the darkness that engulfed her for so many years, but it is that darkness that still plagues her and that will challenge the love between warrior and bard as nothing has before. This latest is among L.N.'s best - rich in humor, sensually passionate, a love story NOT to be missed! It received my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!! - 23 pgs., 8/15/97

**WELL OF SIGHS by Ella Quince
This story is absolutely FANTASTIC!! One of the best alt. tales I've read to date. Exceedingly well-written with a very well-crafted plot and a structure incorporating contrasting view-points that really adds to the narrative. The story has Xena and Gabrielle finding an abandoned well just as the bard is trying to remember an old tale about the Well of Sighs. Recalling a crucial part of that story she calls out a desperate warning but it is to late as she sees the warrior's lips already wet from the water just taken. A moment later Gabrielle finds herself alone not with her best friend of two years but with a very dangerous warlord - the Warrior Princess reborn who cannot remember her, cannot remember the good she's done, and wants only to rebuild her lost army. Determined to somehow retrieve Xena's memory, the bard steadfastly remains with the warlord, ignoring the abuse, ignoring the cruelty that is Xena fully immersed in darkness but one thing Gabrielle cannot ignore - the calling in her heart to what this new, sensual warrior offers. It is a vulnerability the Warrior Princess knows she can exploit - a truth which will make the bard waver in her quest to return things to what they were, wondering if she could ever once again bury the feelings awakened in her heart. An exceptional piece of storytelling, this gets my HIGHEST RECOMMEDATION! - 30 pgs., 7/4/97
