ALICE'S ALTERNATIVE by Puckster
This is a very unusual, highly original follow-up to Puckster's first two XWP novels - CEREBUS' CHALLENGE and EMPATHY'S COST. The story is set both in the present and in the ancient past and has the goddess Gaea once again calling on Xena and Gabrielle to help her fight an evil the two know all too well - an evil which now threatens a world warrior and bard never even envisioned. Joining them is Alice - a modern day woman that has lost her way in the world and is desperately looking for some meaning in her life. With a significant part of the tale unfolding in the Amazon jungle, Puckster story carries a strong conservationist theme which in itself ties well with the presence of Gaea - a goddess seen as the embodiment of the Earth itself - and with the idea that humans need a link to the natural world around them, they need a connection that goes beyond the cold, profit-driven, stiflingly civilized existence we all tend to live in. Adding to the storyline is Pucksters' solid depiction of the commitment between Xena and Gabrielle - the passion they share, the playfulness, the certain knowledge of one another. This is a fun story with a great message. - 97 pgs., 12/21/97

**ALL I EVER WANTED WAS YOU by Nene Adams
Nene adds yet another terrific tale to her CHAMBER OF HORRORS SERIES with an eerie yet poignant story about unrequited love, madness, guilt and revenge. On their way to an Amazon ceremony, Xena and the bard have to go through the kingdom of Attalos - a territory which holds very bad memories for the Warrior Princess. Concerned by her partner's increasingly troubling nightmares and erratic behavior, the bard decides to do a little investigating eventually learning the truth about a brutal episode from Xena's past and uncovering the deadly obsession now threatening them both because of it. Another first-class offering from one of our finest - well-written with a riveting plot solidly grounded on the strength of the Xena/Gab relationship. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 16 pgs., 2/23/99

ALL IN A YEAR'S WORK: SPRING by L. Fox
An epic story for those of you who enjoy those big battle sagas, L. Fox's latest reunites Xena and Gabrielle with their friend Darinius from CAGE OF ELYSIS and one of my favorite tales A BARD'S FAITH in a monumental struggle against a vengeful warlord with a massive army. L. Fox does a great job of building the suspense in anticipation of the climactic conflict. [This is a sequel of sorts to the story BELOVED ENEMY] -- 136 pgs., 8/23/98

ALL IN A YEAR'S WORK: WINTER by L. Fox
An entertaining collection of stories transcribed by a biographer of Gabrielle of Poteidaia and featuring the bard's recollections of some of her most memorable adventures with Xena: Warrior Princess. In SOLSTICE EVE she remembers one of the many times her warrior defended her. This is followed by two very different hurt/comfort tales THE FEVER and SPLISH SPLASH, I WAS TAKIN' A BATH. The first has a delirious Xena recalling some of the most violent events from her past, while in the second an unconscious Gabrielle is gifted with the opportunity to see the future of two souls fated to never be far apart. In THE BLOOD STONE a friend is up to his old tricks again while in THE LAST COMPETITION a certain warrior reveals perhaps one of her most surprising skills. Finally Gabrielle shares the story of THESPUS AND HORATIO, a couple of very unusual warriors she and Xena once helped on their quest to locate a legendary ring of power. Told from Gabrielle's perspective, these tales all have a refreshing slice-of-life feel to them. Sometimes funny, sometimes suspenseful and always revealing of the deep love between the Bard of Poteidaia and her beloved warrior, this collection of stories will have you both grinning and feeling a terrific sense of poignancy. Nice work. -- 104 pgs., 8/23/98

**ALL IN GOOD TIME by Pink Rabbit Productions
An absolutely HYSTERICAL entry that reveals Xena's HIGHLY effective new strategy for keeping unruly ruffians away from her bard at rowdy inns. You'll be wearing a big old grin LONG after reading this little gem. A MUST READ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 6 pgs., 1/13/99

**ALL SOUL'S NIGHT by Joseph Connell
This story is one of the best entries to date in Katrina's BLOOD AND ROSES SERIES. Set in the present day, it directly follows the story begun in Katrina's THE FONDER HEART. With the former streetwalker named Xena now firmly entrenched in her life, Gabrielle is still amazed at the young woman's resemblance to the warrior who owned her heart for so long. It is a resemblance that goes beyond the physical and stirs an aching familiarity within the daughter of Bacchus. Xena, meanwhile, is trying to adjust to her new life - confident in her love for Gabrielle but uncertain about a past she can't seem to completely remember and nightmares that are haunting her. Unbeknownst to the two of them, the forces of evil are at work on a plan to destroy the bard as the daughter of Ares was once destroyed herself. In the shadows, however, a protector lies unseen, watching and waiting for their time of need...sensing too that perhaps the ancient warrior long thought dead has never truly been gone. This is a wonderfully sophisticated, stirring, passionate, suspenseful story featuring a fresh storyline, great writing, and really outstanding characterizations. Chapter 17 of the story is now available. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [Note: This story features EXTREME violence. Please make sure to read the author's disclaimers] - 117 pgs., 2/23/98

**ALL TIED UP WITH NO WHERE TO...GO? by Pink Rabbit Productions
One of my favorite XWP alt. stories available at last! - FUNNY and just thoroughly WICKED, this little tale is GUARANTEED to put a big old grin on your face. It begins with a rather anxious Warrior Princess waiting for Gabrielle at an inn. When it starts getting late and there's still no sign of her companion, Xena sets out in search for her, never suspecting the predicament her little bard has gotten herself in. Enchanting and sensual this story is best avoided at work ;-) It receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! - 11 pgs., 11/4/97

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE by TZ
Another exploration of the possible scenarios after SACRIFICE II, this little tale has the Goddess of Love intervening on the bard's behalf...and insisting that Gabrielle finally be honest about herfeelings. Cute. [Part of the A SACRIFICE FOR LOVE SERIES] - 8 pgs., 7/23/98

**ALPHA/OMEGA TRILOGY by Maven - [Read in the order listed below]

  1. **THE WARRIOR AND THE BARD - TRIBUTE
  2. **THE WARRIOR AND THE BARD - TEMPTATION
  3. **THE WARRIOR AND THE BARD - REDEMPTION

ALONE AGAIN by Claire Withercross
Entry number 7 in the RANDOM THOUGHTS SERIES finds the warrior and bard missing one another and doing a little soul searching as they spend time apart. Claire is effectively developing the relationship here very gradually, realistically contrasting the feelings of a young, inexperienced young woman with one who despite her greater experience is also quite new at dealing with matters of the heart. - 2 pgs., 5/8/00
