THURSDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 1/15/98

Hi guys,

First of all - an announcement. In a few hours I'm heading off to Burbank so you will not be seeing another fan fiction report from me until Monday night at the EARLIEST. If any of you are going to the convention - I'd LOVE to meet as many Xenites as possible so do make sure to say HI!! I'll be wearing a NAME BADGE as I KNOW you all will be too ;-) I'm in seat D21 on Saturday and D27 on Sunday.

As for tonight's report - short but sweet. One new alt. story

THE PHOENIX AND THE FLAME by PatR
This is a long Mel/Janice story that has the archeologist traveling to New Orleans where Mel is trying to decide what to do with the house she's inherited from her uncle. Amidst the familiar setting, Mel finds herself sharing some painful memories - memories of feeling different, feeling rejected, feeling lost and finding only cruelty in those around her. The revelation opens the way for a new intimacy between the two friends just as some of those old ghosts come back to haunt the beautiful Southerner. For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
