FRIDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 1/15/99

Hi guys,

We put out a call for XWP Art Indexes and as expected some very dedicated and generous Xenites have answered the challenge!! Tonight I'm DELIGHTED to announce the opening of not one but TWO Xena art indexes!

CHARIOT'S XENA ART INDEX, featuring a number of category indexes, is at http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Village/7885/

XENABAT'S MUSEO, also featuring category indexes along with a listing of art sites, is at http://xenabat.com/xwpartwork/

The two sites have a different flavor and are both developing very nicely so make it a point to check each of them out. They do need *HELP* from artist and webmasters out there. If you're an artist with XWP art posted on the Web or a webmaster that hosts XWP art please make sure to go to the submissions pages at these indexes for information on how to submit your art. These two sites are EAGER to promote XWP art and to provide Xenite art lovers (including those of you who like myself adore FANFIC ART) with an organized way of locating new and old XWP art so lets help them out folks. Let them know of any new art out there and give them feedback on these terrific new indexes. If there are things you'd like to see - send the suggestion along. BTW - these art indexes will be indexing all types of XWP art NOT just FANFIC ART.

There's a wonderful new site now available for fanfic readers - Talleenah Dan's BARDS TO LOOK OUT FOR. Talleenah includes nicely constructed pages through which she shares her thoughts on the works of those bards featured, reviews of some of their stories, complete listings of their works and links to these. Regarding the "Experts" page I wrote about in my report for 1/11/99, that is definitely a go guys - have gotten a great response. If you have some expertise and want to volunteer do make sure to look at that report for the instructions. I'll be working on the page this weekend to hopefully unveil it by next week.

FOR WANT OF A NAIL by Bel-wah
This gifted writer brings us a gripping story about choices and consequences that begins innocently enough with a bard and a reluctant warrior on their way to a festival. Proud of Xena and anxious for her to have a good time, Gabrielle pushes the warrior to become more and more involved in the festivities never suspecting what her playful prodding will lead to or the fateful decision she'll soon have to make. Revolving around one of the series' major themes, this tale features a particularly compelling characterization of the bard as she and her soulmate are once again challenged by the darkness in the human heart and the realities of life in a violent world. A MOTHER'S LOVE by T. Novan
This ninth installment in the RAISING MELOSA SERIES is a testament to the love of a mother as Xena seeks out an old enemy ready to pay a very high price in exchange for the woman helping Solon control his growing powers. BLOOD RED SCREAM by Tragedy88
Chapter 11 is now available. This terrific contemporary uber story revolves around the life of a very troubled and very lonely computer hacker by the name of Taylor. Having suffered through a nightmarish past, the young woman is still reluctantly tied to the employer who rescued her from the streets - a very wealthy, deadly and heartless employer vent on using Taylor to advance her power. For the hacker life consists of time spent working amidst her computers in an out-of-the-way warehouse, and time spent trying to loose herself in alcohol and sex - until the day she receives an e-mail complementing her on one of her Web stories and suddenly she finds herself... with a friend. In this latest chapter Taylor deals with her oldest friend...pain. Tragedy does a nice job establishing rather original uber characterizations in a riveting, poignant storyline. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
