SUNDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 1/17/99
[Previous report was for 1/15/99]
Hi all,
I'm gonna try to include a list of the bards who'll be attending the Santa Monica convention in my last report before the con so those who are going can make sure to see (and THANK) their favorite storytellers. If you're a bard, going to Santa Monica and don't mind getting listed in the report e-mail me either at this address or at lunacy@dc.seflin.org. If you don't mind giving the information out, please let me know also what your seat numbers will be on Saturday and/or Sunday. Note that there are THREE parts to those seat numbers - I'll need the section, the row and the actual seat number.
Speaking of bards, one of our fellow Xenites needs some :) She is helping to plan the WOMAN'S MUSIC FESTIVAL that takes place over Memorial Day Weekend (and a few days of the week before) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Last year one of the better workshops was on Xena fan fiction so this year they're hoping to offer more workshops on the subject - perhaps include a panel of fanfic writers. Do note that this is a music festival geared towards lesbians. If you're a bard and you might be available for this contact Dar at dar@chesco.com
There's a new art site now available containing FANFIC ART - Slash's XENA ART WORK. Stop by at: http://altern.org/artbyslash/
There are a couple of new fanfic sites now available. The CENTER FOR XENA STUDIES (CFXS) features a resource library, information on the characters and stories published through the CFXS mailing list which you can join by visiting the page. Nice site to check out at: http://homepages.infoseek.com/~cfxs/cfxsmain.html
Another new fanfic site is MUZZA'S XENA PAGE featuring this bard's fanfic. Visit at: http://www.angelfire.com/ms/muzza/
The CORRIE WEB page housing Nene Adam's fanfic has moved. The new page called NENE'S LIVING LIBRARY is at: http://www.corrieweb.com/library.htm
Seven short ones tonight.
GENERAL FICTION:
NIGHTCANDLE by Raistlyn
Wonderful new Mel/Janice story that begins with an old woman telling her granddaughter a tale - remembering an old candlestick and the beautiful gift fate gave her one Christmas eve when greed almost robbed her of the greatest of friends. Well-written, solid tale with very appealing characterizations. DO NOT MISS! - 10 pgs.

PLAYGROUND OF THE PAST by BikerBard
This delightful contemporary uber story follows a fourth grade loner on her first day at a new school as she observes the interactions of the kids during recess and finds herself drawn to a blonde little chatterbox perhaps too brave for her own good. A terrific retelling of the first meeting between two old souls under not too different circumstances. Nicely written tale guaranteed to put a grin on your face. DO NOT MISS! - 3 pgs.

AFTER ROME by ArdentTly
The warrior manages to rather effectively distract her bard from troubling thoughts. Sweet and reaffirming. - 2 pgs.

THE DAY OF THE WARRIOR by Rab Donald

LOSING TOUCH, GAINING TOUCHES by Rab Donald
Amusing story that has the warrior and bard helping others find tolerance and being inadvertently helped in turn to admit the truth about their feelings for one another. Original offering. - 4 pgs.

LET THIS DREAM EMBRACE YOU by Lisa Grandstaff

FANFIC ART:
"Spectre" by Angelique
Inspired by the story SPECTER by Silk.
http://www.sirius.com/~angelik/ang_specter.html
For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
Happy reading!
