ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

WITH FALTERING STEPS by Tonya Muir
Certain to add to the growing popularity of the uber genre, Tonya's latest offering is a gripping, fast-paced, poignant and passionate story that you are very likely going to want to get through in one sitting so reserve a couple of hours for this one. With the world of horse breeding as a background, the tale begins with Mafia henchwoman Lacey Montgomery visiting a horsetrack to look into the reason why her boss's horses are not performing well as of late. She finds much more than she bargained for in the form of a spirited little rider named Rachel Wilson who suspects foul play herself and who immediately volunteers to help. As the investigation proceeds, Lacey finds herself not only learning a lot about horse breeding and racing, but growing increasingly close to the kind-hearted young woman whose troubled past rivals her own and who soon has her yearning for a different life - a life away from the violence of the Mafia, a life with a soulmate she'd never thought she'd find. Tonya paints a thoroughly fascinating picture here of two women, each fighting demons of their own, who find in one another the strength to fight those demons and reach out for their dreams. The characterizations are beautifully done - believable and engaging while the plot itself weaves a number of different story threads into a fascinating literary tapestry. Featuring equal parts passion and tenderness, the romance completes a story guaranteed to jump into many a reader's list of favorite ubers. This first-class effort comes VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 132 pgs.

IT CAME UPON A SOLSTICE CLEAR by LJ

NANO #4: NEWTON'S SECOND LAW - GRAVITATION by Jules Mills
The conclusion is now available. Jules continues one of the best series EVER in XWP fanfic with the fourth entry in her NANO SERIES. Set a few months after NANO #3: THE CARNOT CYCLE, the story has Grace and Dana taking it easy at the young doctor's beach house while her partner recovers from her recent bout with the beta virus. It's a wonderful time for the two of them as they revel in a new intimacy made possible by Dana's emotional as well as physical healing...but it is also a happiness fated not to last for there are forces at work both internal and external driving them toward that eventuality. In this final part Grace and Rachel desperately search for a missing nanotech. If you haven't yet discovered this OUTSTANDING series you are doing yourself a CRUEL disservice. Jules has created in Grace and "Doc" two of the most appealing representations of Xena and Gabrielle to date - placing them in an uber scenario that is cleverly constructed and utterly fascinating! Hold on to that ticker too because judging from the first part of NANO #4 this one is going to be a heart-stopper. RUN don't walk to the NANO SERIES and catch up with the rest of us that are gobbling up this series :) NANO #4 gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! [finished] - 14 pgs.
