WEDNESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 12/17/97

Hi guys,

An important call to ARMS before the fan fic reviews tonight. If you have not yet done so - and even if you HAVE - PLEASE MAKE SURE TO STOP BY THE PEOPLE POLL AND VOTE FOR LUCY!!!! Folks she is in 12th place. Thanks to the support of their most devoted fans Renee and Hudson are both in the top ten which is OUTSTANDING! If anyone deserves to be up there with them, however, it is LUCY LAWLESS without whom we would NOT have a show. If you're a fan of this show in ANY way, regardless of who your favorite character or cast member may be, please consider giving a vote (or VOTES) to Lucy. This is one classy, talented actress who has proven time and time again how much she appreciates her fans. Time to show her guys that we appreciate her too.

In particular I want EVERYONE out there who enjoys fan fiction to vote for Lucy and why do I want this? Well, follow my logic here:

LUCY = XENA
XENA = XWP TV SERIES
XWP TV SERIES = FAN FICTION
Therefore
NO LUCY = NO FAN FICTION ;-)

Yes guys, it is in part due to Lucy Lawless, her wonderful characterization of the Warrior Princess and the contribution this has made to the success of the show that we HAVE a Xenaverse and we can enjoy ALL THESE TERRIFIC STORIES!!

GENERAL FICTION:

THE SOUND OF CHAKRAMS by Catkin
It will NEVER cease to amaze me the crossover stories our bards somehow manage to come up with! ;-) This one is a little uber-Xena story that will remind you just a tad of a certain Julie Andrews musical set in Austria. The story has Alexa, the "world's worst nun" (trust me on that ;-), taking a job as a governess in the household of Captain Von Ulysses. Among the Captain's brood is Heidi, his eldest daughter who immediately befriends the new governess. The growing friendship will give the two young women the strength to reevaluate their lives and reach out for the happiness that has always eluded them before. This is disarmingly cute - although be warned that you will likely NEVER see that Julie Andrews musical the same way again! ;-)

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

READ THE FINE RUNES by Baermer
After her epic PELOPONNESAN WAR SERIES Baermer returns with a suspenseful, wonderfully mysterious new story set during the Winter Solstice. The tale has Xena and the bard traveling to a town where Gabrielle hopes to find a Solstice gift for her companion. Soon after they arrive, however, the town residents begin exhibiting some very strange behavior while Xena starts to feel an overwhelming need to keep her bard safe. Baermer's portrayal of the Xena/Gab relationship is one of uncompromising love and protectiveness. The story works very well as a mystery with the various clues unraveling slowly and leading to some unexpected developments. A great read! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

TOMORROWS PAST by sHaYcH
Futuristic uber-Xena story that has Natasha Romanoff, a descendant of the Warrior Princess, learning about an insidious plan set in motion by an old enemy of Xena's to undo all the good that came from Xena's life. Determine to restore the legacy her ancestor gave to the world, Tasha makes a decision that will change her life forever. This story bestows a nice sense of timelessness to the romance of Xena and Gabrielle.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
