TUESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 1/26/99

Hi guys,

I'm baaaaack >:) The Santa Monica convention was a blast! Met a LOT of fellow fanfic addicts and tons of bards. Heard about some terrific ideas for new stories and sequels by many of our best and brightest so hold on to your seats because we have some fantastic fiction to look forward to in the months ahead!

I'm including a SPECIAL SECTION tonight on STAR TREK VOYAGER fan fiction for those of you who've been enjoying some of those stories as much as I have.

One last little thing - the WHOOSH XENA: WARRIOR PALACE is hosting a chat with a certain Lunatic fanfic reviewer this Saturday, January 30, 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific. One of our fanfic legends returns with a new series called THE TIMEWASTERS and I must say - these tales are a DELIGHTFUL way to...er waste some time ;-) This first one features a very frustrated Warrior Princess out of commission with back trouble desperately trying to entice a certain bard into breaking healer's orders. Renown for her sense of humor, Della never fails with these spicy little pieces that while amusing also show a wonderfully passionate relationship between her leads. Not to be missed, this one comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 6 pgs.

The Warrior Princess is surprisingly successful when she decides to apply the power of suggestion to a little game of pantomime her partner insists on playing. Very cute! Fourth tale in the TIMEWASTERS SERIES. - 3 pgs.

SHADOW PLAY by Pink Rabbit Productions
A retelling of the culmination of the rift saga that takes the story in a very different direction as Gabrielle, now living among the Amazons, has to face the warrior that nearly killed her in order to try to ensure the safety of her people and Xena finds herself face to face with an evil she can't kill...and can't deny. Intense, thought-provoking story which should be particularly interesting for those who found the execution of the rift problematic. - 15 pgs.

UBERMADNESS: THE BATTLE FOR THE THIRD AGE by Bat Morda
The conclusion is now available. The very talented Bat Morda returns with the long-awaited sequel to THE SEARCH FOR AMPHIPOLIS. Set one hundred years after that story, it chronicles the continuing struggle of Xena and Gabrielle's descendants against the God of War... only this time around those descendants may in fact be more than just descendants. The story begins with hacker extraordinaire Xero, deadly, beautiful and not keen on trusting people, narrowly escaping an assassination attempt. Soon she is joining forces with Rielle, a beautiful, green-eyed blonde who claims to know what is happening - but as a syscop, also happens to be a hackers worst enemy. All the while the skeptical Xero is learning more about a certain warrior of legend - and learning more about herself in the process. In these final sections one final battle is fought and two soulmates finally recognize one another. Bat does a wonderful job here of creating a futuristic world filled with personalities that should be familiar to many of you in the Xenaverse. Her Xero is a gritty, no-nonsense type very reminiscent of warlord Xena while Rielle embodies the best of Gabrielle - intelligent, determined, and very much ruled by her heart. This story is fun, passionate, emotional and decidedly original! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - 151 pgs.

JUST BETWEEN SPECIES by G.L. Dartt
The twelfth in G.L.'s magnificent JUST BETWEEN series, this is perhaps the darkest and most intense Janeway/Seven adventure to date. It begins on an alien planet with the Captain fighting for her life after being thrown into a barbaric prison where only the fittest survive for any length of time and a human alone doesn't stand much of a chance. Meanwhile, the Voyager crew device a desperate plan to save their captain - a plan which will pit Seven against some of the deadliest species in the area and unleash a part of the Borg no one has ever seen before. G.L. does an outstanding job blending heart-stopping action with intense emotions in a compelling hurt/comfort tale that remains at its core - a very touching romance. Another MUST READ in this marvelous series that continues to get my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!! - 42 pgs.

JUST BETWEEN DREAMS by G.L. Dartt
This latest entry in the JUST BETWEEN series chronicles one of the most heart-wrenching episodes in the lives of Captain Janeway and Seven as they are forced to deal with a shattering revelation. All the while, the crew of Voyager is suffering from nightmares - a disturbing dream which Janeway soon realizes is the same for many among the crew - including a certain Borg who may just be the key to understanding those dream images. Beautifully structured, this story does a solid job of advancing the Seven/Janeway partnership while unraveling an intriguing mystery from the past. With a particularly poignant characterization of Seven, this G.L. effort gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!! - 42 pgs.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
