THURSDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 1/29/98
[Previous report was for 1/28/98]

Hi all,

Four more new ones including one sequel to one of our most popular stories.

GENERAL FICTION:

A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE by Gillian Decker
A charming little Solstice story that has Xena and the bard returning to Amphipolis where they are soon ambushed by some tiny warmongers weilding deadly accurate...snowballs :) VERY cute.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY by Paul Seely and Jennifer Garza
This is the highly anticipated sequel to one of the best uber-Xena stories available on the Net, SURFACING. Part one is now available and I have to tell you folks - it does NOT disappoint! Already this looks like it's going to rival Paul and Jennifer's first story as one wildly exiting ride! Featuring one VERY deadly encounter between a trained killer and the men assigned to protect its quarry, the opening sequence is a gripping combination of suspense, action, intrigue and pathos - set in sharp contrast to the scenes which follow as we see Diana and Charlie enjoying domestic life. The months of tranquillity, however, have not affected the ex-agent's razor-sharp senses which soon enough are warning her that the peace she's been enjoying may just be coming to an end. As in SURFACING, Paul and Jennifer do here an outstanding job of imbuing their writing with a very contemporary "feel". The relationship between Diana and Charlie is characterized by an easiness between them - a level of comfort that reveals their love even in the smallest of gestures. Excellent writing and excellent storytelling. DO NOT MISS!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

A DIFFERENT KIND OF RIFT by RavensTale
Clever new story set after the events in THE DEBT which has Ares offering Xena the chance to go back in time and change some of the horrific experiences she and Gabrielle have recently endured. Nice writing and an interesting premise give this one lots of potential.

WARRIOR AND HUNTER by [Anonymous writer]
Unusual story set after the events in the episode THE FURIES which has Gabrielle convincing a still troubled Xena to relax for a little while. They camp near a mysterious temple where in the company of her bard Xena allows her vulnerabilities to show through, never suspecting that another is witnessing the exchanges between them and seeing what they themselves have not yet recognized. This is well-written and intriguing.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.

Happy reading!
