SUNDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 2/8/98

Hi all,

As some of you know, I recently created a WHAT'S NEW page at my site to service those fan fiction readers who used to rely on the WHAT'S NEW page Xenos maintained at the XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS FAN FICTION INDEX. However, I just learned over the weekend that Shadowfen, a fellow Xenite, is now offering an index of her own AND a WHAT'S NEW page. I've looked at Shadowfen's WHAT'S NEW page and I find it well-structured and comprehensiv e so I'm going to discontinue my own page and just encourage you folks to visit her site. My priority is and always will be the fan fiction reports and the reviews which I will continue as usual. I REALLY don't have much free time to devote to a WHAT'S NE W page so I'm delighted Shadowfen is now offering this service.

I also want to thank ALL of you who've been writing thanking me for the reports or the WHAT'S NEW page. I may not be able to get back to you because I'll be busy reading fanfic BUT I very much appreciate the kind words.

Xena and Gabrielle join forces with an old acquaintance of the Warrior Princess to try to stop an evil warlord. This story is not yet finished.

This new uber-Xena story basically sets Xena: Warrior Princess in the Old West where a feared outlaw named Zeen Zamora is injured and soon finds herself having to deal with a stubborn little blonde who's determined to be her sidekick. Some amusing parts in this.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

THE SUNNE IN SCARLET by Nene Adams
Nene brings us Book Two of the PHOENIX SAGA which began with her spectacular THE SUNNE IN GOLD. Set a few years after the first story, this sequel finds the Lady Cathelin and her beloved Madrigal happy in their love and in the company of their children when suddenly adversity strikes in the form of a life-threatening injury. It is a development that could not have come at a worse time since unbeknownst to them hatred and greed will soon threaten once again all they hold dear, embroiling them in a web of deception and political intrigue. As in all her historical pieces, Nene excels here at adding atmosphere to her story, immersing us through the use of dialogue and description into the world of medieval Ireland. Her approach to the uber genre is very original - relying on characters that will remind you of a certain warrior and bard but are not necessarily distinct representations of either. This is an enjoyable, well-written, suspenseful sequel that should not be missed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amuzing new skit that has Callisto being her usually WICKED self as she plays a game with Gabrielle and a highly frustrated Warrior Princess. Cute.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
