BLOOD RED SCREAM by Tragedy88
The conclusion is now available. This terrific contemporary uber story revolves around the life of a very troubled and very lonely computer hacker by the name of Taylor. Having suffered through a nightmarish past, the young woman is still reluctantly tied to the employer who rescued her from the streets - a very wealthy, deadly and heartless employer vent on using Taylor to advance her power. For the hacker life consists of time spent working amidst her computers in an out-of-the-way warehouse, and time spent trying to loose herself in alcohol and sex - until the day she receives an e-mail complementing her on one of her Web stories and suddenly she finds herself... with a friend. This final part features a riveting confrontation as Taylor struggles to free herself from the darkness that has been her life for so long. Tragedy does a nice job establishing rather original uber characterizations in a suspenseful, poignant storyline. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See the sequel - DANCE OF DEATH] - 51 pgs.

DANCE OF DEATH by Tragedy88
Tragedy continues the story begun in BLOOD RED SCREAM as detective Darion Grange watches over a recovering Taylor. Feeling inexplicably drawn to the detective Taylor begins to open up about her tortured past but with their enemies still very much in need of the hacker's talents, the two soon find themselves drawn into a deadly power-play with world domination as the ultimate goal and the hacker a rather expendable resource in a game that began millenniums before. Tragedy does a nice job with the characterizations of these two women - particularly that of the troubled Taylor. The storyline cleverly integrates the ancient past of these two souls with their modern incarnations producing a story that is fast-paced, action-packed, emotional and thoroughly engrossing. FORGOTTEN WAY by Tragedy88
A very different new uber story that begins on a sorrowful note as a young writer living in a desolate old farmhouse contemplates her lonely existence just before experiencing another loss in her life. Shortly afterwards, while on a trip to the nearby town, she happens across a stranger with startling blue eyes who having already earned the animosity of the town's residents, finds herself with nowhere to stay. Thus begins a beautiful friendship as two wandering souls are reunited amidst the pristine beauty of a snowy countryside. Tragedy is already throwing clues into this storyline that will pique any reader's curiosity guaranteeing that we all keep coming back for more. Compelling characterizations. DO NOT MISS! CONQUERING THE CONQUEROR by Seana James
Chapters 3-4 are now available. Set in the world of Xena the Conqueror, this VERY promising new story revisits the scene from the Hercules episode ARMAGEDDON NOW that marked the first-ever confrontation between the infamous empress and the courageous insurrectionist, Gabrielle of Poteidaia. Impressed by the young woman's bravery but determined to show the people how pointless any efforts at opposing her will be, Xena does not hesitate to order the insurrectionist's crucifixion, instructing the soldiers to break her legs in the process. The cruel empress stands by stoically as her victim's screams flood the courtyard but once her eyes are captured by the anguished ones starring back at her from that cross suddenly another vision floods her mind - a vision from another time and place on a snowy mountain where she is herself on a cross and on another one right beside her those same green eyes are shinning back at her with nothing but love. It is a vision that shakes the Conqueror to the depths of her souls making her realize that she may have just made the most horrible mistake of her life... In these latest chapters bard and Conqueror get to know one another better as Gabrielle tries to maintain her courage while facing a Conqueror certain that either the bard or her accomplices have used magic on her. Seana sets up a terrific premise here and does a great job of maintaining the characterizations from that ARMAGEDDON NOW episode. Her Gabrielle is courageous, smart and very human while her Xena is remarkably likeable despite the rough and deadly exterior - sympathetic and yet frightening in her determination to keep the gentleness in her heart from surfacing. Definitely one to monitor in the weeks ahead, this one comes VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] - 9 pgs.

WARLORD METAL by Redhawk
Part 5 is now available. Redhawk continues a tradition of original, well-written uber fanfic with a new tale set in the world of Heavy Metal music where teenager Sonny Middlestead soon finds herself drawn to the new singer for her brother's band - a troubled young woman with striking green eyes who comes from the streets and is carrying more emotional baggage than Sonny could ever suspect. In this latest part, after three years obsessing over a woman who seems willing to be with everyone BUT her, a determined Sonny sets out to fulfill her dreams never suspecting how in doing so she'll be fulfilling the dreams of another as well. In this latest chapter Jordan and Sonny have to deal with the repercussions of finally having acted on their feelings for one another. Blurring the lines between the Xena/Gab uber archetypes, this story is delivering some nicely sensitive characterizations of two people as different as night and day forming an unlikely friendship in a world that doesn't often make life easy. NANO #6: THE FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS by Jules Mills
Part 8 is now available. The sixth installment in Jules already classic NANO SERIES finds Grace and her nano tech back home and busy at work while they continue building a life together. It's a life already full of both domestic and professional challenges as Doc seeks the help of a professional in trying to understand the darkness within her and both struggle to fulfill the promise of the technology they're working on. This latest part has Dana, Rachel and Grace working to keep one step ahead of the FBI. Jules has achieved an easiness in her depiction of these characters and the relationship they share that continues to make her stories a rare treat. Exceedingly well-written, this new story promises the same mixture of humor, passionate romance and heartwarming emotions that have put Jules Mills among the creme-della-creme of XWP fanfic talents writing today. For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
