A really sweet story that has Gabrielle enlisting the aid of Artemis in order to give the Warrior Princess a very special Solstice present. A nicely written tale which celebrates the friendship between warrior and bard.

A solstice story in the tradition of Charles Dicken's A CHRISTMAS CAROL which has the Fates showing Xena what life would have been like for her and Gabrielle had she never allowed the young girl from Poteidaia to follow her. Poignant tale with a a good depiction of Xena and her relationship with the Gabster.

Acting as a sequel to THE MAIDEN AND THE SEVEN WARLORDS this sixth entry in Nene's XENAVERSE FAERY TALES series has the bard now getting kidnapped by a warlord determined to make her his - only a certain Warrior Princess decides to protest :) Fun piece.

HOME SWEET HOME by CN Winters
A sequel to CN's COMING HOME and the third entry in her HOMECOMING SERIES, this story is set some five years after the warrior and bard first join. It is a time they remember with a bittersweet sadness now, at a loss to understand the distance growing between them despite the love still burning in their hearts. Determined to find a solution, however, the two head for the Amazon Nation and into the ancient equivalent of...marriage counseling :) CN offers an original storyline here with strong characterizations of both Xena and the bard as older and more mature. Emotional moments combine with some humorous exchanges in a passionate story that comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

DARKNESS FALLS by Melissa Good
Part five of this story is now complete. This is THE story every fanfic aficionado out there has been waiting for - Missy tackles "the rift", and folks it already looks like it's going to be yet another incredible experience courtesy of one of the most consistent talents in our Xenaverse. This tale is particularly intense in that while set after the episode BITTER SUITE, it also CONTINUES the storyline Missy has been following throughout her novels. Indeed DARKNESS FALLS takes place after REFLECTIONS FROM THE PAST. Given the incredible love, tenderness and commitment which has increasingly characterized the relationship between warrior and bard throughout Missy's novels, it is especially heart-wrenching to see that relationship in pieces at the beginning of this latest story as Xena and Gabrielle struggle to try to deal with what has happened to them and what they've done to one another. In this latest part, the warrior and bard return home. Missy changes the events which we saw on TV just a bit but other than that she plunges headlong into the trauma of the rift chronicling a much more realistic emotional journey for Xena and Gabrielle as they start on the path back to one another. This story is on the surface very different from what we're used to from this bard but beneath that surface and making its way to the top is the same magic, the same sense of gentle passion and fierce love that in Xena fanfic is classic Melissa Good. With the first seven chapters now available, this story gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
