Hi guys,

Some announcements tonight - the XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS PALACE will be hosting its first ever BARDAPALOOZA on Saturday, May 30, at 10 pm EST/7pm PST. Lots of our favorite fanfic bards will be in attendance so we can chat with them. The WHOOSH Webmasters have increased the capacity of THE PALACE site to 500 so lots more Xenites will be able to participate now. THE PALACE is a graphical chat environment that does require special software so make sure to drop by the Web site prior to May 30 to find out more about it and download the software before the BARDAPALOOZA! EMBERS TO A FLAME by A.L. Dunham
This first time story was written back in February 1997 as part of a fan fiction challenge to show possible scenarios under which Gabrielle would broach the subject of a romantic relationship with the Warrior Princess. As the first offering in A.L. Dunham's CAMPIRE CHAT SERIES, it is a sweet tale nicely depicting the nervousness and uncertainty of two friends deeply in love with one another and wanting very much to admit that love despite their fears.

The second entry in A.L. Dunham's CAMPIRE CHAT SERIES is a beautiful piece that has the warrior recognizing just how much she values everything about her bard and trying to make that clear to Gabrielle after the young woman suffers a debilitating illness. This is an effective and emotionally satisfying depiction of a very special love. DO NOT MISS!

NO PLACE FOR FEAR by A.L. Dunham
This fourth entry in the CAMPIRE CHAT SERIES is a stand-out hurt/comfort story set at a time when Xena and the bard are getting ready to formalize their union and the warrior is beginning to fear everything may be too good to be true. VERY nice, loving depiction of the relationship in this. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

LEAP OF FAITH by Missy Good
Part seven of this story is now being posted. So consistent she'd probably never make it as a character in a third season episode of XWP, Missy returns with the beginnings of what promises to be another exceptional XWP novel. Set about a month after the events in DARKNESS FALLS, the story begins with the warrior and bard recovering nicely from their recent ordeals, rejoicing in the healing their relationship is experiencing. The sense of things in fact returning back to normal becomes even more pronounce when they visit Poteidaia and once again find people in need of their help, people looking to the Warrior Princess when no other hope remains. Unbeknownst to them, trouble is stirring in other parts too, as danger envelops a dear friend. In this latest section, the warrior and bard continue trying to redeem a lost soul as preparations get under way for a joining. Featuring exceptional writing, masterful storytelling, Missy's endearing sense of humor, and one of the most beloved depictions of the Xena/Gab relationship in fanfic this is another treat for us all guys. A MUST READ that receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

DARK PROMISE by Katrina
Chapter four of this story is now available. This latest entry in Katrina's BLOOD AND ROSES SERIES already promises to be one wild, fun ride. A crossover tale featuring the characters from BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, this story has Buffy getting quite a surprise when she meets Willow's aunts who aside from having the same names as a couple of popular TV characters, also keep setting off the slayer's hypersensitive senses. In this latest chapter Angel and his kin consider some powerful new additions to their ranks. Katrina's characterizations are on the money and will delight fans of both series although this is entertaining even if you only watch one of them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
