We have a wonderful treat tonight folks - the LONG awaited return of one of the giants in Xena fanfic with more of a sequel we've been desperately craving :) Also two new ones by another couple of talented writers.
GENERAL FICTION:
FIRST WORD by Lara Zielinsky
Well written account of the events told in the episode THE FURIES which has an obsessed Atrius determined to give his young daughter Xena to the God of War, and a desperate Cyrene determined to stop him.

JUSTICE by E.A. Week
A very solid, wonderfully suspenseful new story that has Xena and the bard visiting a mysterious tribe of Amazons whom Gabrielle soon realizes her partner seems to be more familiar with than she's willing to admit. As the only witnesses to a vicious attack on one of the younger Amazons, the two are soon trust into a web of intrigue reaching to the very halls of Olympus while challenging Xena to put old hatreds aside in order to make sure justice is done. This is a nicely crafted story that doesn't give anything away as it slowly unravels one mystery after another. With good characterizations of all the principals and a nice tie-in with the series itself, this is a MUST READ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:
TARTARUS by M. Parnell
Chapters 15-22 of this story are now available. After the masterpiece that is ORIGINS I didn't think M. Parnell could possibly top that effort anytime soon. Well, with the release of TARTARUS, this bard may be well on her way to doing just that. Starting where ORIGINS left off, this story has Xena and Gabrielle getting reacquainted with life on the road after the emotionally draining months they've just experienced. Enjoying a new depth to their relationship, they are nevertheless allowed little time to explore this before once again they find themselves in the middle of a tragedy - trying to help the survivors of an earthquake - in a village located not far from where Xena once let her army loose. The Warrior Princess helps knowing that she will likely be brought to justice for those crimes, knowing too what the punishment is likely to be, but never suspecting that a gentle heart will be caught in that quest for justice, determined to share her fate...no matter what that may be. In these latest chapters the warrior and bard gain firsthand knowledge of the violence that is a way of life in Tartarus even as they continue adjusting to the new life they are trying to form together. As with Parnell's other stories, this is writing at its best and storytelling at its most captivating. Parnell's stories feature one of the most intelligent characterizations of the Warrior Princess in fan fiction. It is fascinating to see how Xena's mind works under the pen of this bard. ORIGINS took the Xena/Gabrielle relationship to a new level which this story has now begun to examine more fully. It is a subtle exploration which nevertheless depicts great love and great passion. Still unfinished, this is already a heck of a story folks. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
