WEDNESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 7/16/97

Hi guys,

Two great new stories tonight and two great new updates :) All are alt. fiction.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

SLEEPLESS IN AMPHIPOLIS by Kristo
A true comedy of ERRORS, this delightful new tale by Kristo has the warrior and bard traveling to Amphipolis where Xena hopes for a reconciliation of sorts with her uncle Argolis who's son was among those who rallied behind her when she was a warlord and died in the process. Trying to lighten Argolis' mood is the village healer who, certain that the widower loves her but is just too stubborn to admit it, has obtained a love potion that will hopefully do the trick. Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately ;-) - not all goes as planned as that potion unleashes a set of unexpected events that will give NEW meaning to the title of this little story! This is a very nicely written combination of romance and humor sure to put a BIG grin on your face!

THE PELOPONNESIAN WAR - BOOK I: PRECURSORS by Baermer
This story continues the tale begun in Baermer's excellent THE ELEUSINIAN MYSTERIES (review at https://lunacyreviews.ausxip.com/alt.htm). Set in an epic period of Ancient Greek history amidst the saga of the Peloponnesian War, this promises to be a heck of a story. In this first installment, Xena and Gabrielle return to Eleusis where they have once again been summoned by the king, this time to discuss a developing situation which the king fears will soon result in an all out war. Joining them is Pericles, the most powerful Athenian leader and his companion Aspasia - an old acquaintance of Xena's who the warrior fears may be adding fuel to the fires already being fanned by the approaching winds of war. This story is not explicit so far.

MATCHMAKER by Katrina
Chapters 11-14 of this story are now available. Based on a clever premise, this story is still not finished but is turning out to be a FANTASTIC read! A VERY concerned Toris asks Xena for help when he overhears his mom talking with Gabrielle's mom about matchmaking and assumes the two mothers are going to try to make a match between him and Lilla. Little do they know that although correct about the matchmaking efforts - Torris has gotten the principals all wrong...>:) In these latest installments, the two mothers together with the Amazon Nation itself organize plans for a contest to choose the best suitor even while a certain warrior and her bard make plans of their own. A funny, romantic and VERY passionate tale.

CAPTURED by Virginia Leonard
Chapter three of this story is now available. This tale has Xena and Gabrielle meeting up with an old friend of the Warrior Princess - a roguish thief with an eye for the ladies and a penchant for trouble. In this latest chapter Xena and the Gabster agree to help their friend retrieve a treasured necklace confiscated by an irate father. Something else about this capter...uh...well...lets just say a fruit salad is just NEVER going to be the same for you after this ;-) Well-written with some precious moments. Previously reviewed 6/9/97 and 6/25/97.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
