Hi folks,

The report includes a SPECIAL SECTION tonight on STAR TREK VOYAGER fanfic.

A reminder to those of you who post your fan fiction on the NetForum - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider archiving your stories and poems ALSO at one of the many XWP fan fic Web sites. NetForum posts are NOT permanent. In the past old posts have been deleted after several months resulting in the loss of quite a number of fanfic efforts. There are over 100 different Web sites to choose from managed by Webmasters that are usually delighted to receive new fanfic. If you've never posted your stories outside the NetForum and want more information on how to do that take a look at the file POSTING YOUR FAN FICTION STORY ON THE WEB by yours truly :) It's located at: https://lunacyreviews.ausxip.com/postingfanfic.htm

Two new ones tonight and two updates, all alt.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

OKTOBERFEST by Redhawk
This sequel to Redhawk's fantastic HIGHLANDER/XWP crossover tale, ONLY ONE begins on a plane bound for Europe on the first leg of a vacation Xena hopes will further aid in the recuperation of her young lover Rickie Gardner. Still suffering from horrific nightmares, Rickie is nevertheless flourishing in the warrior's company - starting to remember a life from very long ago and looking forward to a second chance with her soulmate. Unbeknownst to them, however, others are watching and waiting...knowing the life of an immortal will not be peaceful for long. Picking up where ONLY ONE left off, this story is already hinting at a riveting, suspenseful plot and a strengthening of the Xena/Rickie connection. With part one now available this is definitely one for the MUST READ list. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] -- 10 pgs.

I TREMBLE by Tish
A gripping hurt/comfort story set in the middle of a forest where a wounded warrior struggles to remember images from her past, the violence that led to her injuries and most of all, the beautiful young woman so movingly devoted to her care despite suffering from injuries herself. Tish does a fine job of building the characterizations, expressing through that warrior's point of view both her frustrated desperation and the anguish of her partner. Poignant and engrossing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! -- 4 pgs.

AFTERMATH: THE TREE OF LIFE by XWP Fanatic
Part three of this story is now available. Set in the world of Xena the Conqueror we first met in the HERCULES episode ARMAGEDDON NOW, this TERRIFIC new story has the ruthless empress holding a contest to try to determine what "truth" is...with dire consequences for the losers. Undaunted and despite having first-hand knowledge of the woman's cruelty, Gabrielle chooses to participate, driven by this stubborn need to somehow reach the ice cold heart no one else seems capable of breaching. It marks the beginning of a difficult journey for both of them as the Conqueror finds herself intrigued by the young upstart and Gabrielle finds herself suddenly a part of the empress' life - forced to join her on a campaign against the very enemy that helped to make her into the dreaded Destroyer of Nations. In this latest part Gabrielle proves her worth to the Empress once again, moving deeper into the woman's heart. Meanwhile, the Amazons await the coming of a Chosen who will supposedly lead them out of the near-extinction they've suffered at the hands of Xena the Conqueror. Very well written, with a fascinating premise and great characterizations of the Xena and Gabrielle from that alternate world, this one will have you checking often for more updates. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] -- 18 pgs.

FESTIVAL by Melissa Good
Part nine is now being posted. This is the sequel to PROMISES KEPT which finds the warrior and bard on their way to the Amazons to celebrate the Festival of Dyonisus, participate in games, enjoy some delightfully tasty nutbread, and generally just get into a lot of trouble ;-) Missy maintains the general sense of playfulness and happiness the warrior and bard achieved in PROMISES KEPT after learning that their little family will be growing. The opening of this latest offering embodies what makes this bard's fiction so very special - a magical sense of connection and trust and love between two soulmates reveling in the simple pleasure of being together. In this latest part, warrior and bard help one another through a frightening nightmare. Don't even bother with reviews of a Melissa Good story - just go read. The flashbacks alone in Missy's stories will leave you totally enraptured with her characters. FESTIVAL gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! :) [unfinished] -- 5 pgs.

SPECIAL SECTION - STAR TREK VOYAGER ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

First a short announcement - the wonderfully talented G.L. Dartt has now made available a Web site featuring her Voyager fanfic. Check out CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS at: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/ns/greenoaks/Home.html

G.L. also has a new one... :)

JUST BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE by G.L. Dartt
Coming on the heels of the much lighter JUST BETWEEN ENEMIES, this latest entry in G.L.'s exceptional JUST BETWEEN SERIES (other stories in the series are reviewed in the SPECIAL REPORTS page) is an emotional rollercoaster that cruelly strips Janeway and Seven of the comfort they've found in one another - pitting them in a life or death struggle against an old enemy...and one other. Gina continues to deliver in this series beautifully constructed, ingenious storylines with a depiction of the Janeway/Seven relationship that just captures the heart. This tale is a particularly emotional one. DO NOT MISS! It gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!! -- 60 pgs.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.

Happy reading!
