GENERAL FICTION:

THE TRIAL OF XENA by Onora
Chapters 7-9 of this story are now available. This thought-provoking, poignant tale has Xena and Gabrielle spending time with Hercules and Iolus when Athenian soldiers arrive to at last bring the Warrior Princess to justice. It is a development that will test Xena's commitment to justice even as it tests her friends' desperate need to protect her. In these latest chapters, the trial begins. Still unfinished, the story is well-written and very promising.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:

SHERWOOD by L. Graham
This is both an uber-Xena story and a crossover of sorts. Set in medieval England, it places many of the characters that have appeared on XWP in the world of Robin Hood with some changes here and there. In this tale Robin never lived long enough to face the forces of oppression in Nottingham - but his sister did. It is she who turns a band of thieves and peasants into a force to be reckoned with in Sherwood forest, never forgetting the childhood friend she left behind nor the feelings she was desperately running from. Years later, that friend now comes back into her life, reawakening those feelings and firing a passion for justice that will give birth to a legend.

With news that the city is in revolt, the warrior and bard embark on a possible rescue mission with Solari and Epinon. It is a journey that will once again test them physically and emotionally as they struggle with the historic events unfolding around them and with serious issues still unresolved in their relationship. In these latest sections, the action turns to Athens where the future of Mytilene is debated. From the keyboard of one of our most accomplished bards, this entire series has become a MUST READ in XWP fan fiction. Baermer's writing is often so beautiful that it verges on the poetic. Her characterizations are solid, with intriguing plots that are well planned and meticulously executed. Note that this entire series is available in both subtext-explicit and subtext-lite versions. For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
