In a tavern full of villagers the bard from Poteidaia weaves her magic - spreading the legend of Xena Warrior Princess, while the warrior watches thinking of just how much that magic has captured her soul as well. Solid little tale with a surprising ending. - 2 pgs.

NEGOTIATIONS by Gin
This new bard's first fanfic piece is set in the world of Xena the Conqueror we saw in the Hercules episode ARMAGEDDON NOW. Gin takes some liberties with the story as presented in that episode, creating a world in which Xena has not yet conquered all though she's well on her way. Still to be vanquished is the proud Amazon Nation. Standing between the Conqueror and that particular prize is a Poteidaian turned Queen who having been rescued from slavers by the Amazon a few years back, now rules the Nation with a fierce protectiveness. To the amazement of her Amazon sisters, the young queen chooses not to fight the Destroyer of Nations but to reach out to her. It is a desperate gamble but one which Gabrielle must take, knowing as ruler just how deadly the Conqueror can be but remembering a five-year old who once saw a very different side of the Warrior Princess. Based on the premise that love can indeed conquer all, this story includes some clever tie-ins with regular Xena history and even with other fan fiction. - 33 pgs.

OKTOBERFEST by Redhawk
Part two is now available. This sequel to Redhawk's fantastic HIGHLANDER/XWP crossover tale, ONLY ONE begins on a plane bound for Europe on the first leg of a vacation Xena hopes will further aid in the recuperation of her young lover Rickie Gardner. Still suffering from horrific nightmares, Rickie is nevertheless flourishing in the warrior's company - starting to remember a life from very long ago and looking forward to a second chance with her soulmate. Unbeknownst to them, however, others are watching and waiting...knowing the life of an immortal will not be peaceful for long. In this latest part Rickie's emotional healing continues as Xena treats her to the infectious fun of Oktoberfest in Munich. All the while a very dark soul is getting ready to cleanse the world of another sinner. Picking up where ONLY ONE left off, this story features a riveting, suspenseful plot and a strengthening of the Xena/Rickie connection. Definitely one for the MUST READ list. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ALL I EVER NEED by K.P. West
Part four is now available. This first story by a new bard is a rather original uber piece set in the present day which finds loner Jaime Bennet unemployed and in need of physical therapy after she's diagnosed with a mysterious illness. Her existence becomes a predictable routine until the day a new physical therapist comes into her life sporting the most beautiful green eyes Jamie has ever seen...In this latest part, patient and therapist grow increasingly closer. Nice storyline with terrific potential. K.P. is turning this one into a very satisfying, emotional read. DO NOT MISS!! [unfinished] -- 8 pgs.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
