WEDNESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 9/23/98

Hi all,

An important announcement to start things off. As some of you know, I live in South Florida where we are currently preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Georges. Having experienced Hurricane Andrew a few years back I can tell you that these storms can be devastating. In my neighborhood we only suffered through the outer edges of Andrew and still we were without power for 4-5 days. I'm going to be spending the next day or so getting ready so this is the last fanfic report you'll be getting from me until after Georges. Hopefully, if my area isn't badly affected I'll be back online soon after but do not be surprised if you don't see a report from me for a while depending on how that apartment holds up, when power comes back and when Internet Service is available again. Keep reading guys and someone out there please tape the XWP season premier for me just in case...

A wild action-adventure tale very much in keeping with the spirit of the XENA SCROLLS which has Janice Covington and Melinda Pappas trying to save those precious scrolls, running from Nazis while running toward each other :) Nicely written with some very cute moments. - 13 pgs.

TYGER, TYGER by Joseph Connell
Joseph's latest is a prelude to Redhawk's marvelous XWP/ HIGHLADER crossover ONLY ONE which was in turn the canon story for the INFINITY SERIES. The story begins in the Amazon jungles of the 1940's where the inhabitants of a small village begin to worry that the medicine woman they've revered for longer than any of them can remember, might possibly be getting ready to leave them. For many of them the dark woman with piercing blue eyes is part god, able to heal from fatal injuries in a matter of moments. She has been, for a long time, the villagers' salvation, helping them to survive and cope in the changing world but indeed her time with them is at an end. The medicine woman knows this when visions come to her of a beloved face never forgotten if somehow made different by the passing of time. Instinctively she knows her time of peace is at an end for the world is crying out for a warrior - and Xena of Amphipolis must answer that call. Joseph's imbues the beginning of this story with a terrific mystical quality that immediately captures the reader. This should be a riveting one folks. DO NOT MISS! [unfinished] - 5 pgs.

The conclusion is now available. This first story by a new bard is a rather original uber piece set in the present day which finds loner Jaime Bennet unemployed and in need of physical therapy after she's diagnosed with a mysterious illness. Her existence becomes a predictable routine until the day a new physical therapist comes into her life sporting the most beautiful green eyes Jamie has ever seen...In this final part, Jamie faces the reality of her condition. Nicely emotional storyline with a contemporary feel and a good treatment of a very serious issue. DO NOT MISS!! - 7 pgs.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
