THE RIVER by Aslan
Part 2 of this story is now available. This is a very promising sequel to Aslan's FORGIVENESS (reviewed available at https://lunacyreviews.ausxip.com/lunacy81997.shtm) which has Xena and Gabrielle joining forces with the warrior's former enemy Arianna - this time to track down a mutual foe - the warlord Talinares. What they don't suspect is that Talinares has formed an alliance of his own with an evil determined to bring the Warrior Princess to her knees. In this new part Xena attempts a rescue mission.

ILLUMINATIONS OF THE SOUL by Liz
With over a thousand XWP stories now available, it is difficult to write fiction that stands out from the rest. Every once in a while, though, a story comes along that captures the heart as few others have before. This is such a story folks. Marking the debut on the Web of this very talented new bard, ILLUMINATIONS OF THE SOUL is a first-time tale featuring WONDERFULLY tender moments between Xena and the bard, some hilarious misunderstandings and a romantic exploration which gives new meaning to the word passion! - DO NOT read at work in other words ;-) It begins with a dance lesson - a lesson that reveals more than warrior or bard had ever expected and which makes them for the first time look at possibilities that had always seemed too distant before. The journey they then embark on will not be an easy one as they find themselves having to fight prejudice, having to deal with family and ultimately, having to trust in each other and in the call of their hearts. This story is now solidly entrenched in my favorites list. It is a beautifully written, thoroughly satisfying read which receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

A SHOWER SCENE by Bongo Bear
Known for a rather quirky sense of humor, Bongo Bear brings us another fun and yes QUIRKY tale sure to put a grin on your face. It helps if you have some knowledge of the science used in science fiction series like STAR TREK but...read it even if you don't. VERY cute.

WHO'S WHO? by PatR
A new, LONG story that at times will leave you a bit confused but then it's supposed to...I think ;-) If you like Xena/Gab lookalikes this is *THE* story for you. They're coming out of the woodworks in this - Mel and Janice, a new pair named Carmen and Katie and of course, the originals - all banding together to try to rid the world of a dangerous evil once and for all. Very different fare.

NEW TERRITORY by LZClotho
A HIGHLY original new first time story that sets out to avoid common cliches in alt. fiction and succeeds quite well. The story has Xena and Gabrielle trying to deal with feelings for one another they can no longer ignore. Sensing the warrior's fears, Gabrielle realizes that it is up to her to take the initiative but those fears and the constant misunderstandings will make any progress for the young bard a SLOW process. This story is nicely written and very sweet. The characterizations of Xena and Gabrielle are different but well-drawn and believable.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
