SUNDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 11/8/98
[Previous report was for 11/5/98]
Hi all,
Starting off tonight with a personal announcement - the LUNACY FAN FICTION REVIEWS Web site has moved. The new URL is: http://https://ausxip.com/.com
I want to take a minute here to thank my friend and fellow Xenite MaryD for originally inviting me to post the reviews on the Web back in May 1997, for having hosted them at her XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS INFORMATION PAGE, and for all the support and help she's given me in maintaining the site this past year and a half. I've finally decided to join the ranks of Xenite webmasters with my own site but I remain forever grateful to MaryD for helping me to establish the reviews as a presence on the Web. MaryD will be maintaining a forwarding page at her site through the end of November with the new URL but make sure to change your bookmarks so you can track me down after that :)
Now, as to those Webmasters out there who link to reviews and other things at my site, if you have to change a lot of links my suggestion is that you use a marvelous little program called TEXTPAD to do it. TEXTPAD is a shareware text editor available over the web at http://www.textpad.com
which allows you to open several files at once and change the same thing in all of them with one shot. I'm maintaining at the new site the exact same directory structure that was in place at MaryD's site so all you will need to change is the domain of the URLs. I'm sending out a message with more details to those Webmasters I know have links to my site. If you don't receive that message in the next few hours and would like a copy send me a note and I'll send it to you. With regards to my favorite subject, fanfic :) - two news ones tonight and an update.
GENERAL FICTION:
LOOSENING THE CHAINS by JS Stephens
Very sweet little tale set just after the first season episode DEATH IN CHAINS which finds the Warrior Princess in the unlikely position of having to comfort a sensitive young bard...and feeling a tenderness within her she hadn't thought herself capable of again. Nice writing in this - DO NOT MISS! - 2 pgs.

ALTERNATIVE FICTION:
STRIKEN by Barry Marshall
On their way to Thessaly the warrior and bard learn that a deadly plague is raging through Greece...and that an old friend of the Warrior Princess may be the one spreading it. Barry's latest is a well-written hurt/comfort tale with solid potential. [unfinished] - 7 pgs.

DEUS EX GABRIELLE by Chris M.
Part 10 is now available. A delightfully entertaining new offering that finds the Bard of Poteidaia in a difficult predicament after Apollo kidnaps her and she unknowingly eats a little too much ambrosia. The new goddess then embarks on a quest to find someone willing to take her godhood away so she can return to the mortal who owns her heart. Some hysterical moments in this as the bard turned goddess leaves her mark all over Olympus :) In this latest part the world trembles as a goddess surrenders her godhood. Very well written and very cute! Terrific characterizations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [unfinished] - 24 pgs.

OF DRAG KINGS AND A WARRIOR PRINCESS by Susan Smith
Chapter 14 is now available. This talented writer tries her hand at uber fiction this time around, producing a very different, very original contemporary story. Rosalind Olchawski considers herself a fairly ordinary college professor leading a fairly ordinary life - a life so ordinary and so bland, in fact, that recently Rosalind has started to wonder whether she's even capable of feeling that passion others seem to feel. It is a concern that is answered one evening when she accompanies a friend to a club and discovers in the startling blue eyes of a drag king the destiny she had been waiting for. In this latest chapter Rosalind learns more about Taryn's friends. Very well written, with characterizations that are sensitively done and an intriguing storyline this one should keep you hitting that page down button. [unfinished] - 4 pgs.

TYGER, TYGER by Joseph Connell
Part 5 is now available. Joseph's latest is a prelude to Redhawk's marvelous XWP/HIGHLADER crossover ONLY ONE which was in turn the canon story for the INFINITY SERIES. The story begins in the Amazon jungles of the 1940's where the inhabitants of a small village begin to worry that the medicine woman they've revered for longer than any of them can remember, might possibly be getting ready to leave them. For many of them the dark woman with piercing blue eyes is part god, able to heal from fatal injuries in a matter of moments. She has been, for a long time, the villagers' salvation, helping them to survive and cope in the changing world but indeed her time with them is at an end. The medicine woman knows this when visions come to her of a beloved face never forgotten if somehow made different by the passing of time. Instinctively she knows her time of peace is at an end for the world is crying out for a warrior - and Xena of Amphipolis must answer that call. In this latest part an ancient warrior is once again tested. Joseph's imbues the beginning of this story with a terrific mystical quality that immediately captures the reader. This should be a riveting one folks. DO NOT MISS! [unfinished] - 7 pgs.

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
Happy reading!
