HEART OF THE MATTER by Blue
The PERFECT story for this upcoming weekend and for the romantic in us all. It begins with a bet between the goddess of love and her winged son. Aphrodite is certain that mortals aren't capable of true love and must therefore always need her and her son's spells to help them in that department. Cupid isn't as certain and to prove it he decides to show his mother a very different type of love from the one they evoke with their magic - a love that is true and complete and so strong that it will inspire generations to come. Meanwhile, a certain Warrior Princess and her bard come upon an old man struggling with a broken cart. Concerned that he would be easy prey for thieves, they invite him to travel with them for a bit. A self-described chronicler of human nature, Valentius becomes fast friends with the young bard who soon confides in him her feelings for the warrior, even showing the old man a simple little gift she hopes will reveal the love in her heart. Valentius will be with them again in a much darker time when moved by the love between these two soulmates he will vow to make sure a love like that is never forgotten. This one will tug at those heart strings so make sure to have the kleenex box well within reach folks. Blue's latest is a highly original, beautifully written, inspired piece that does a wonderful job of weaving the TV story with one of our most popular legends. A MUST READ!! THE LONGING by Protek
The newest entry in the INFINITY SERIES begun by Redhawk, this new story finds the immortal Xena of Amphipolis remembering the time she first escaped from her self-imposed exile in the jungles of the Amazon to embrace the world again. It was a juncture that would take her to Europe and then on a long sea voyage headed to the United States aboard a majestic liner on her maiden voyage in April 1912. Protek successfully presents here the mixture of past and present that are common to stories in the INFINITY SERIES and that were a hallmark of the HIGHLANDER TV series on which the series is partly based. Particularly timely given the current interest on the specific liner featured here, this tale has great potential. [unfinished] - 6 pgs.

Part 5 is now available. Riveting new story that finds Gabrielle in dire straits on her way to the Roman slave markets praying the Warrior Princess will reach her soon, only the warrior Gabrielle knows is no more, replaced by a stranger living ten years in the past and aided now once again by the same mysterious figure that was her right hand back then. In this latest part as Xena prepares to decimate Rome, the bard is sold on the auction block. Clotho does a nice job with the pacing of the story creating a great sense of suspense and impending danger. DO NOT MISS! [unfinished] - 7 pgs.

Part five is now available. This sequel to THEODICY begins after the events in A FAMILY AFFAIRS with a still shaken Gabrielle trying to recover from her recent ordeal and a worried Xena now having to deal with the presence of a second Poteidaian as the two head into Amazon territory. In this latest part, back with the Amazons both Xena and Gabrielle worry about trouble among their friends. Joan is setting up an intriguing storyline here as Xena and Gabrielle try to grapple with the changes in their relationship. Solid characterizations in a well-written effort. DO NOT MISS - 4 pgs.

THE BROKEN BLADE: A TALE OF CAMELOT by Llachlan [Re-released]
Llachlan contributes a very promising new entry in the INFINITY SERIES as the immortal Xena tells her beloved Rickie about a time of knights and kings and chivalry and intrigue. With the teenager listening spellbound, the ancient warrior remembers the day centuries before when she found the bastard son of a medieval warlord and set out to turn that babe into the king legends had long ago foretold. Llachlan immediately captures here the sense of mystery usually associated with the origins of King Arthur. Moreover, careful attention is also paid to developing the Xena/Rickie relationship, imbuing it with a deep sense of love and tender passion. With a nice flashback to Xena and Rickie's first Solstice together - this is particularly timely story that will immediately grab your attention. One to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
