**CIRCLE OF LIFE by Melissa Good
Possibly more anticipated than the fourth season of XWP, comes the continuation of Missy's beloved Xena/Gab series in a story which continues the tale from FESTIVAL but is actually set after the events in the episode FAMILY AFFAIR. Still recuperating from their recent ordeal, the warrior and bard are back in Amphipolis awaiting the birth of their child and treasuring their time together as never before. With Amazons visiting and word of friends and family in trouble, however, their tranquillity is short-lived as the two, reunited once again, prepare to face whatever life throws their way. Missy's very special style is clearly in evidence as this novel opens - immediately placing the Xena/Gab relationship center stage and infusing the story with a unique blend of delightful humor, poignant drama and enchanting characterizations. If you want to treat yourself to the work of a master storyteller DO NOT MISS this story or any other of the others in the series. This gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! [See the sequel DARK COMES THE MORNING, part of the JOURNEY OF SOULMATES SERIES] - 192 pgs., 10/25/98

**CITY (THE) by Jim Kuntz
This follow-up to THE FORTRESS picks up the story as Xena and Gabrielle arrive at the kingdom of Xora to return the Scepter of Athena. For the bard it becomes a learning experience as Xena decides to take a back seat so that the Queen of the Amazons can shine, convincing her partner of how advantageous it can be for the Amazon Nation to form such ties, and finding herself strangely content to lie in the shadows for once. Jim deepens the characterizations beautifully in this story. He explores the psyche of an ex-warlord now finding contentment in the growing peace of her life and the love of her soulmate. He also looks at a young woman coming into her own as queen. Top-notch writing in another terrific story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See the sequel THE JOURNEY] - 23 pgs., 1/2/99
