Set in the latter part of the fifth season, this poignant entry has Gabrielle visiting a now rundown Temple to the Goddess of Love where the bard and the beautiful Olympian reminisce about their unlikely friendship and share a touching goodbye in the face of the coming Twilight of the Gods. TELLING SECRETS by Sam Ruskin
This sequel to IN HER DREAMS opens with an especially tender moment as Gabrielle bonds with Eve and then does a little bonding with Eve's mom only to be interrupted by a couple of Olympians anxious to have them expedite that "bonding" process ;-) Sam once again paints a charming portrayal here of two long-time friends moving toward a new stage in their relationship. **TEST OF TIME (THE) by Taz
This is one of the BEST XWP alternative stories written to date - very timely also considering that it is set just after the events of the Callisto episodes we are now seeing. In a terrible struggle with conflicting emotions over Gabrielle's marriage and the death of Perdicus, Xena and the bard find their relationship strained to its limit and then seemingly devastated at last when they learn of one final atrocity Callisto committed. Guilt-ridden, Xena makes a desperate choice, surrendering herself to a god in exchange for returning Gabrielle to the life she once had, but some things neither time nor distance can change and two souls meant to be together will find a way... This is a heartbreaker with a FANTASTIC ending that is going to shock the heck out of you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! - 65 pgs., 3/97

We get another gem by this brilliant author tonight - a poignant story about the Warrior Princess in the twilight of her years, remembering her life, dealing with the challenges of being a legend, readying herself for the coming marriage of her granddaughter...and always missing her beloved bard. There are moments in this that will have you grinning at the old warrior's tendency toward mischief...and others that will pull at your heart in remembrance of what was. Beautiful and stirring.
